Down the rabbit hole

About Me

Herschel Road was formed in 2005 by Ike "Dr Tron" Robinson and Tim "TG Fly" Giles. The pair met through Fly's older brother Tom "Precise" Giles - a member of hip-hop group Vinyl Dialect and a former Farm Research Unit colleague of Tron's back in sleepy Framlingham, Suffolk. Fly immediately recruited the help of keyboard king Ivo "Uncle Meat" Neame, while Tron roped in difficult diva Polly Gibbons to front the supergroup. Italian maestro Lorenzo "Savventies" Bassignani joined the ranks on bass guitar later on, and the sexy sextet was complete. The good Doctor Tron had a backlog of unused material written on countless days of sentimental self-indulgence, and Fly added groove - while Uncle Meat's Napoleonic dictatorship ensured there was always room for him to slide in his tributes to 'Midge' (Chick Corea). Polly effortlessly translated Tron's lyrics to avoid presenting herself as a lesbian, and with Precise adding street touches with every scratch of his deck and Savventies Bassignani slotting into rhythmic partnership with Fly as if they were made for each other, Herschel Road at last took shape.
