About Me

Julia Field, songwriter, performer, storyteller. Hails from too many places to count, but if you made a list, New Jersey, Oxford (U.K.), and Boulder, Colorado would be a good place to start. Growing up in a family with a Welsh musical background, Julia was playing music from the beginning, but began structured musical training at age 7, starting with piano, then violin, viola, and voice. She dabbled in other instruments such as cello and percussion. At age 13, tired of lessons, Julia picked up an old classical guitar and began to play. What followed has been an evolution: an undoubtedly unique, unscripted sound. A style that you can't learn from lessons. Over the last ten years, Julia experimented with all different kinds of guitars and techniques, forming a particular affinity for slide guitar after idolizing blues legends like John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. She crafted her song-writing after influences from her youth: Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and later, Kurt Cobain. Now, a decade after first picking up a classical guitar, Julia is moving forth to be a driving force on the L.A. indie music scene, finishing her first album by the end of 2008, with even bigger plans for the future. Stay tuned for the latest updates, songs, shows and pictures..To dig on more songs, check out www.purevolume.com/juliafield ---------------- live at the cat club: 7/2/07

"It is better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all." Love is lost like hair from his head. Love burns hot and dies cold in tears in our bed. Some die, and some just leave when life...
