From the embers of high-caliber local Vancouver projects comes a new, explosive band known as Burning Borders. The band formed in the late summer of 2005. Brian Reed (vocals) left the well-known, Surrey-band, Syfin. He then called on Justin Griffiths (lead guitar) to with the initiative to start a new project. Chris Brams (rhythm guitar), who had just left 2005 Vancouver Seeds finalist Elixir, met with the other two and started collaborating ideas. All three had the same goal in mind: To write music with the idea of having no boundaries. Substance over style.
After recording pre-production at Audio Visions Studio, Rally Car and studio drummer, Levi Catroppa, entered the scene. The four starting writing and rehearsing three time a week without a bass player. Shortly after, Levi referred his cousin, Kevin Catroppa, (bassist) to join and complete the five piece. The lineup was now complete!
Since then, Burning Borders has hammered out over fifteen tracks. Eleven, of which, were recorded at Ear Art Studios by highly-renowned producer Tim Neuhaus. These eleven songs make up the debut LP, which was released in April 2007.When writing lyrics, Brian tries to stay away from the cliche topics. Such as relationships, death, etc... "I try to write lyrics that have more to deal with everyday life, rather than just focusing in on all the negatives that surround us,"-Brian, Burning Borders. So far, this innovative approach has brought great reviews. Currently, "Lose Control" is topping the Alternative Metal charts on GarageBand.com.
However, is really doesn't matter where these boys are from, or who we have accompanied musically. All that really matters now is how much a Burning Borders concert rocks! Every show is a beer-fueled Rockfest! Full of high octane energy, and pin-point percision. Look for these guys to be burning up a stage near you.Thank-you for your support!
