Llegamos hace dos anyos con los bolsillos vacios y la ilusion de empezar algo nuevo y sorprendente. Encontramos, por el camino, a un sinfn de personajes peculiares: titiriteros, transformistas, acordeonistas terroristas, chaperos y viejas glorias del cabaret. Nuestra musica, todavia joven e inexperta, se fue alimentando de este extenso catalogo de outsiders a la vez que sonyabamos con montar un gran espectaculo en alguno de los music-halls del malogrado Paralelo barcelones. Escuchamos detenidamente la musica de los maestros (es decir, Kurt Weill, Jacques Brel, Marc Almond, la copla de La Piquer, el Tango) en tugurios repletos de fotos antiguas y neones parpadeantes con una copita de vino y un trazo de rimel en los ojos.
“El PIANO ARDIENDO†it is born at the end of the year 2003 after the disembarkation of two errant Majorcans to the port of Barcelona . Jordi Maranges and Marc Melià (vocalist and pianist, respectively), being fed-up with the Balearic boredom they begin the way of what finally would end up by forming the profile of EL PIANO ARDIENDO: cabaret-pop, chanson, glam, Copla ... mixture in the end for a project in which the imagination is a fundamental ingredient. From the smallest and charming places (El PastÃs, Tinta Roja in Barcelona) to prestigious rooms (Mercat de les Flors, La Paloma , Teatre Xesc Forteza),and also some visits to Torino (italy), the cabaret duet has formed a personal and very passionate repertoire that has won in solidity in a little time.
Piano and Voice are the essential elements from which they give life to the songs in live presentations, nevertheless, in spaces of big dimensions, they usually relying on the collaboration of different musicians (bassist, accordionist, guitarist ...) or with samplers or prerecord (formula that they use in his recordings). The musical influences are very varied: Tom waits, Paolo Conte, Scott Walker, Arthur H, Vinicio Capossela, Kurt Weill... and literary or theatrical also: Jean Genet, Beckett, Lorca, Brecht...
