Montreal, August 2nd, 2007 - Amérimage-Spectra is proud to announce the release of
ROCKABILLY 514 , an unique feature rockumentary by filmmaking duo
PATRICIA CHICA and
MIKE WAFER . The film is now available for festival participations and competitions!
For over three years, the filmmakers documented the lives and tribulations of a handful of characters within the rockabilly subculture in Montreal. The film is about a community of people who are dedicated to the 1950s rockabilly music and lifestyle. The directors have chosen to concentrate on the Montreal rockin’ scene for its strong foothold in North-America in terms of influence, presence and colorful diversity. Moreover the rockabilly community in Montreal has been rising like skyrocket in the last few years, welcoming newcomers and embracing a youthful and rebellious attitude.
Each protagonist’s story was shot in
vérité style! The film has a hybrid feel to it by mixing traditional interview techniques with more in-the-moment situations. The film starts with the first annual
Red Hot and Blue Festival and ends with the second edition.
All of our colorful characters are deeply involved in the Montreal underground scene and they make things shake within the subculture to keep it alive!
ROCKABILLY 514 was produced by
AMÉRIMAGE-SPECTRA , in association with
BRAVO! NETWORK and in collaboration with
CANAL D . The film was produced by

Moreover the rockabilly scene in Montreal embraces an American way of life, that strikes a sharp contrast with the French Canadian community within Canada.
