Being born into a musical family was of little help to me as I ended up taking up the piano-accordion anyway. I have had the good fortune of being musical henchman for the likes of Eliza Carthy, Linda Thompson, Joan Baez, Kathryn Tickell, The Be Good Tanyas and a host more talented fools that have hired me. Notice the above are all girls?
I’m nobody’s fool.
I do a few things with and without the accordion:
Lau
Lau play modern Scottish folk music, a trio made up of Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle), Kris Drever (guitar/vocals) and me. They have an album out on Reveal Records and an extensive international touring schedule.
For me info on Lau please visit www.lau-music.co.uk or their Myspace .
Joe Townsend and Martin Green
Joe Townsend (master of bizarre and beautiful violin music) and I play our own confusion of tripped-out bong folk and heavy eastern groove. Joe and I are currently involved in a show for renowned opera company Opera North based on the music of Tom Waits.
The show sees us collaborating with contemporary composition genius Gavin Bryars. JT and MG Album for sale from CHAT Music. Tracks on the Myspace
The Green Machine
A terrible medium for my own sick compositions. Girls, brass and kaos pads, it's all there. Try using "Horse" from the noise window or flap to www.thegreenmachinemusic.co.uk for free MP3s (ooooh)
Composition Work
People also get me to write music for them and I like that. I have scored and been musical director for several theatre shows. In 2006 I was commissioned by Celtic Connections festival to write a piece for their “New Voices†series.
