Words by Angelique
Music lives there where rules are bound to be broken. Whats the concept of freedom if we let record compagnies or people decide whatever a girl, you or we should do.
In music we can find our freedom, in nature we can find our freedom, in god, in jezus and live we can find our freedom. In following ou're own truth honest spirit we can find truly freedom and happiness.
Whenever I feel the jazz spirit, or this wild rock spirit or this deep passionate soul, african, arabian or flamenco spirit. I feel all faces of my inner me bounded by awareness. I started recording my first CD "For decency" with the words
Burning all the hunger in me, I'm burning!
I knew that I had to fight hard to realize what I always wanted...
"sing what I wanne sing, thats the only way to fulfill my hunger".
"Follow you're call of Freedom".
About Angelique Beauvence
Angelique Beauvence shows her singing and improvisation talent together with her great band. You will be taken on a journey thru different worlds of pop, blues, jazz, passionated songs with a touch of French romance.
With her great band Angelique Beauvence sings songs from her previous albums 'Let there be love','Still love you' and soon to be released album "Gipsy" (Une Affaire d'Amour), which emphasises her exuberant, Southern European temperament and reminds you of her jazz but also her pop and rock background. With her unlimited musical interest, Angelique is an original and innovative singer and performer. Her voice expresses, what the people from the south would call, "Saudade": the emotion that she shows with her genuine and untamed passion.
Angelique comes originally from the south of the Netherlands,a region called Limburg. Because she has moved around for most of her life, her experience of different cultures has most certainly influenced her music. Her links to gipsy roots and her strong beliefs in a more just world play a fundamental part in her professions as songwriter, producer, actress, musician, coach, and artist.

rozario feat. l'ango
"Music lives in that place . . . Music lives there, where rules dont rule the roost . . . there where my musical sense fully identifies itself with the musical experience along the lines of thought of the Jazz, Flamenco and the Gypsies, who were considered to be the fathers of Flamenco.
The sadness, the timing and the passion of this distinctive style of music are identical to my perception of music, where a musical meeting ground among people emerges.
All things seem to arise from that moment of time when all emotional passion, hope, pain and longing-for coincide, so making it beautiful in all its melancholy. Youll never be able to repeat it, as it is one of these moments. It gives music where language barriers cease; its a universal language . . . the language of the heart.
There where God rules the world...and love rules our soul."(words by Angelique)
Angelique is called L'Ango but her full name is Angelique Beauvence. Anqelique has a strong belief in God and in the power of believing in a positive energy that connects the language of the hearth. She believes that even though our lives are becoming more and more rushed and chaotic, we should concentrate on inner balance, instead of just pursuing goals that lead to places the heart cant be found.
Angelique was raised in the south of the Netherlands. Because she has moved around for most of her life, her experience of different cultures has most certainly influenced her music. Her family links to gipsy roots and her strong beliefs in a more just world play a fundamental part in her professions as songwriter, producer, actress, musician, coach, and artist. Apart from her own projects, Angelique is very much in demand as a guest singer for the recordings and performances of a remarkably wide range of musicians.
Angelique followed several courses in classical singing and a professional and private tutorial at the University for Performing Arts in The Hague and Zwolle. Combined with her daily studies she did an extensive course Method Acting, tutored by Mr. Clif Sutton in Amsterdam.
2006: Based on the thought, as words by Angelique the album Rozario feat. LAngo titled Gipsy in collaboration with producer Rozario came into being.
For me, says Angelique, one of my album songs titled The Song of Freedom (qon Quista vai) came into being in my inner self out of a resistance song, a kind of protest song against a society that is gradually becoming more and more hardened. You should speak the language of your heart, dont be on the sidelines, dont become an onlooker, dont get dragged along by the selfish, individualistic attitude that the spirit of this age holds. Space has been left open for guest musicians, from different musical movements and different cultures, enabling them to improvise live. This turns music into a universal language.
One of the guest musicians on the album Gipsy is Rod Niangandoumou, who also participate the live performances.
Angelique sings the songs Not all in love is fair, Ne me quitte pas and Its gonna be all right together with Rod, who was born in Congo-Brazzaville. He has a long history in the international pop-world. In 1980, when he was working from Paris, he had a huge hit worldwide with the song Sha-ke it up (do the Boogaloo), which still turns up on compilation CDs. Rod toured the world after that hit. He left Paris, where he grew up, behind and went to New York, after which he settled down in London. Then he also lived in Congo and Dakar.
My lyrics also emerge from the moment. They are written in the poetic style of the Flamenco and Argentinean freedom songs. They will be translated from Dutch to English and Spanish. They will be collected in a volume of poetry, titled Red Rose.
Red Rose Red Rose
Red Rose Red Rose
Where are you when I need you?
Red rose Red Rose
Why arent you blossoming for me?
I cant reach beyond the power of your thorns
that prevent me to get closer to you
You tempt me to admire you in all your glory,
and you murmur softly while you smile at me,
as if to challenge me again and again
by asking me gently ..
do you see me in all my display of colour,
dont I disarm you with the power of my sweet scent?
Red Rose Red Rose
Why do you let me longingly dream,
and in my own way make me believe,
that one day I may get past your thorns?
Red rose Red rose
I wish I knew for how long
I can retain my sweet dream,
as little by little I fear your stinging thorns
that make me slowly swallow the salty tears of my soul . . .
. . . mournful. . . because I sense not to be as noteworthy
as you are . . . beautiful Red Rose
Red Rose, Red Rose, I beg, blossom for me,
Red rose Red Rose.
Red Rose, Red Rose, please bring my home nearer, for evermore
With her great band she sings songs from her soon to be released album Gipsy, which emphasises her exuberant, southern European temperament, influenced by her Gipsy roots, reminding you of her pop & rock background. Her style of music can be regarded as pop, soul, Urban jazz, with musical influences rooted in Spain, Portugal, France, Africa and the Middle East. Her voice expresses saudade as the people from the south call the emotion Angelique shows with her genuine and untamed passion.
Rozario Records about one of the Album songs:
This song starts quietly and romantically, with a loose Fado kind of feel. Singer Angelique L'Ango' Beauvence sings the words from the famous jazz standard on a completely different and improvised melody. Additional lyrics in her own Gipsy language are improvised too. The story becomes more aggressive, because where is the man she loves? The answer comes from an Arabic male choir together with a hip-hop groove and Turkish strings. This is an exciting track with a lot of ethnic influences and again a thrilling music story.
Hamburg 2005: In November 2005 Angelique received the first prize for Best Singer, Songwriter and Performer during the German Pop & Rock Contest in Hamburg. Having existed for 23 years, this contest is the oldest Pop & Rock Festival in Germany, and its also very highly valued.
Press:Hamburg Musiker Magazine Mit einer an Magie grenzenden charismatischen Stimme ersang sie sich den 1. Deutschen Songpreis 2005 und das, obwohl sie in Holland eigentlich als Jazzsängerin bekannt ist.
Press : The Billboard: A big-voice chanteuse who operates in the no-mans land between pop, world and jazz.
Angelique Beauvence has opted for the least obvious arrangements on her debut album For decency (D&K).
Where other artists would have used a conventional drum kit, the blond femme fatale, who hails from Maastricht (Netherlands), has opted for subdued African percussion instead. The print media and then the national, adult-oriented Radio 2 picked up on the hard-to- pigeonhole album, after the label D7K dumped a few copies in a demo box at the National musicians day in Amsterdam, an event organized by Conamus, a foundation that promotes Dutch Music.Albums of Angelique
The owner Job Zomer, from Record company Munich Records, signed for the albums Let there be love and Stilllove you. 2004 Angelique clearly opts on the album Stilllove you for a fusion of soul, jazz and pop. In terms of styles, this CD was written as if with her band in mind.. Piano and keyboard player Hans Jansen, in addition to accompanying Dutch artists, has also written the scores for many hits. He played with famous pop bands, featuring on about 1,000 albums. Drummer Ton op t Hof was also a member of famous top-10 hit scoring pop groups for many years. He produced hits in the Netherlands and features on about 100 gold records, a number of which won Edison awards. Counter-bass player Harry Emmery is producer of this new album, composer of some of the tracks and wrote all the scores. Emmery, too, started his career with pop bands, then switched to jazz and for over 25 years played in numerous successful formations. He participated in over 80 concerts during the North Sea Jazz festival.
The song I got to know, written by Angelique was the winning song First Prize for Best Singer.
The critics wrote about her as Her background in pop music can be heard in her unpolished singing, straight from the heart, rather blues than jazz., She sings in the pompous style of Shirley Basseys famous James-Bondtune Goldfinger, and jazz is a too narrow- minded conception for this phenomenon.
The album Let there be love 2003 is a tribute to the great composers of the 40s such as Gershwin, Rodgers/Hart and Irving Berlin. Angelique: My love for Jazz was appealing and my longing to bring back the romantic interpretation with which the songs were originally written - dating back to the period when the big names as Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis and Billy Holliday reigned- was overwhelming. Let there be love breaths the warm and modest atmosphere of the music of the 40s, and takes you back to the days when Julie London, Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe had the power. The album was recorded together with C. Knegjens, Rozario, Harry Emmery, N. Staal and jazz drummer John Engels. Harry and John Engels can be called the Dutch Grande Jazz Masters. They have played with jazz musicians as Stan Getz, Ben Webster, Dizzy Gillespie en Chet Baker. They participated over 80 concerts during the North Sea jazz Festival. This easy-listening album was well received here and also sold well in Japan.
As a songwriter, Angelique has recorded albums on which she worked together with well-known producers.Together with Producer Rozario she started a long-lasting musical collaboration. Rozario won the first prize of the Future Music/Korg Award, which had the theme Music of the Future".
Press: Fret Magazine: "...obviously a definite own style, something that's often not the case with Dutch producers, who mainly look at the international scene. This album clearly has great potential.(Ruud Lekx)
Music Maker: "...a treasure of musical ideas from the highest order". "... a beautiful and well- balanced production".(Enrico Versteegh)
Future Music Magazine: Clever use of samples, chords and melodies, resulting in original, light floating and jazzy jungle style". "...extraordinary musical".(Jan Katsma)
Rozario and Angelique share the same musical preferences for world music sounds, an intimate ambiance and tasteful arrangements marked by a dramatic undertone.Rozario about Angelique: She is a singer who can produce a wide variety of tone colours, ranging from Judy Garland to Björk. She is herself the most, however, when carried along by the mood of the music; she expresses her feelings as they arise. Sometimes LAngo sings with the most subtle restraint, sometimes with a spectacular exuberance, deep-voiced and always emotional. Rozario and Angelique recorded the album Time to Fly, which allowed her to develop both her love of composing and the writing of socially conscious lyrics, including topics about childhood victims of war. A TV and radio exposure followed. New coming is The album Gipsy une affaire damour 2006 !!
Arno Natte produced the album Secrecy, Hands on Venus, for which she co-wrote numerous songs and did all the vocal parts. This album was a hot tune for commercials and movie played on a daily base on SBS Television.
She has also worked for several theatre-agents as a singer in theatrical concepts.
Press Reviews theater shows: theater Alcatraz Rotterdam de Telegraaf: "A cracker of a singer! She swiftly brings the house down with her powerful voice. Her bloodcurdling yelling and whispering during a Nina Hagen act culminated in an absolute highlight. But equally easily does the rock diva get anybody to swing along with a merry country song."
Algemeen Dagblad " Non, je ne regrette rien.. . . a truly musical tour de force of Angelique Beauvence."
Angelique performed nationally and internationally: in Germany, Italy and France.
The recording of the album The Great Female Voices was followed up by a theatre tour through The Netherlands in 2005. A jazz tribute to the Jazz singers as Julie London, Judy Garland, Billy Holiday.
