Phunklarique count as the most interesting newcomers amongst the numerous amount of producers and DJs in electronic music. Phunklarique was born in Hamburg as Frederic Möring-Sack and completed his training as an Audio-Engineer on the SAE. His musical career set off in Hamburg as a guitarist in various bands and gained knowledge concerning arrangement of songs and songwriting. He found his way to electronic music via French House-acts as for instance Daft Punk and Les Rythmes Digitales.
After his debut 12 inch entitled "Haute Couture" and the successful follow up "Bright shadow EP" on german imprint "Pop-up-Trash" in 2005, he released his very respectable cross-over hit "On a higher level" on Hammarskjold including a massive Oliver Koletzki remix in beginning of 2006. "On a higher level" can be considered as his starting shot for his incredible amount of output which is underlined by a bunch of releases in around two years - most of them produced in cooperation with his studio colleague Dejonka and also under the pseudonyms "Alterno79", "Piemont", "A.k.a. Derbe" or "Punk Funk Punch". In november 2006 Phunklarique released his 10-track debut album "les echos weekend" through Hammarskjold Digital.
The quality of his productions is verified by the top-notch labels (amongst others Great Stuff, Klang Gymnastik, MBF, Karate Musik) where remixes and productions by the Hamburgian can be found. However, the significant output for his latest releases has been the own record labels Hammarskjöld, Fingerfoodmusic and – newly founded – Suchtreflex, which he has been managing successfully toghether with Dejonka since late 2005. The current release is the single by Phunklarique & Dejonka entitled "No breath at 280 feet" and was released on their label Hammarskjöld in march. Amongst others expect arrival of another Phunklarique & Dejonka EP on PM (Playmate) Music later this year!
Together with Dejonka he recently founded the project Piemont. Under Piemont the two Hamburgians create music suitable for peak time hours as well as laid-back listening. The long awaited debut EP ("Ice Instinct") was released by "Hi Freaks" in January 2007 and gained support from many top jocks, including Thomas Schumacher and Oliver Huntemann. Moreover "Ice Instinct" got featured on the momentous DJ-Mag cover CD. The acclaimed german label "Gedankensport" released their second EP named "Nightshift", including a fabulous remix by Berlins minimal superiors MyMy. Their following single entitled "Carbonat" appeared on the cologne based label My best friend (MBF) in april, and can be considered as their breakthrough. Beeing charted or droped by top class Djs such as Carl Cox, Deep Dish, Oliver Koletzki, Monika Kruse, Umek and King Roc, Carbonat quikly advanced to a widespread clubhit and entered the German Club Charts (DCC) at position 13 in may 2007! MBF meanwhile released Piemont's follow-up-EP named "Sympthetic" in September 2007, which immediately reached position 11 of the DCC. Various upcoming Piemont releases on labels such as Gedankensport and Hi Freaks and several remix works are planned for 2007.
