Midian was formed in 1992 by Michael Eijk (guitar) and Wilmar Taal (vocals/guitar) together with Erwin Koolen (bass) and Claudius de Wilde
(drums). Soon after joining Erwin left Midian. From this moment on, Midian, now a trio, frantically started to write songs in death- and thrashmetal style. At the end of 1992 Claudius got injured and plans for a demo had to be postponed. As Michael and Wilmar kept on writing, 1993 started with a bunch of new songs in a much more brutal vein. Spring 1993 saw the birth of the War Beyond The Flesh demo, recorded in the Beaufort Studio. It was received very well in the underground metal scene which resulted in a deal with Norwegian Effigy Productions from John Erik Aslaksen. In the same period Adrian Rijkeboer was found as a replacement for Erwin Koolen on bass. As a result Midian started touring and the EP Sadistic and Obscene was released. The songs Limbs In The Sewer and The Sow Is Mine were chosen for release on the Mental Trax CD-series. Despite Midian climbing the ladder of success, Claudius and Michael decided to stop early in 1994. After a few unsuccessful attempts to keep Midian rolling it was decided to quit.Wilmar and Michael still did some different projects together like
Vlammenzee, Mannaz and Triplesix. Every once and a while they spoke of reuniting Midian. It was only until 2006 that they decided to give Midian another try. Marc Luttik (Triplesix, Dedicated Sinners, The Untuned) joined forces on guitar and the 18-years old George Bahlcke was asked to play drums. In March 2006 Wilmar chose not to be part of Midian any longer and was replaced by Rinus "Sicksixsix" Pereboom. A totally new demo was recorded in October 2006 and mixed bij Dennis Jak (Nembrionic, Consellation, Unlord), featuring three songs called Bastards, My First Victim and Passion for Death. A succesfull tour was done in France, England and the Netherlands during fall 2006 and the first half of 2007.In the summer and fall of 2007, some changes in the line up were made. Michael Eijk took up the bass-position. On the guitar a new member was added to the group: Dorus Neijboer (ex-Disavowed). The Midian line up is complete again and working intensively on the first full length album in a long time, which is scheduled for recording probably somewhere in 2008.
