My name is Maya Nadjieli, Maya meaning illusion and Nadjieli meaning I love you (Both my first names.) I am of Cuban, Mexican, Native American, and Russian-Jewish heritage. The first step to making a difference is to break your chains of ignorance and become aware. Than it is the power that we hold as individuals to break the silence, to rise up and demand Justice. The world is in constant change, it is crucial that we show our voice thus, be a part of creating the change. I encourage you to get involved in anything that will get your voice heard. We all have the capacity to dramatically affect those around us and start a chain reaction of Social change and Social Justice. Once you are conscious however, than the true battle begins. What will you do to change it? We need to come together in our commUNITY’s, show that we are strong and determined, show that we will not stand by the sidelines and allow this corruption to proceed. If we sit by and watch, than we are no better than those committing the crimes. There are study sessions available for all the youth that are interested in making a difference. The study sessions will be facilitated by some of the youth and student organizers (including myself) of the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) and will focus on historical and current movements and struggles here and around the world.
