The Genius Controls the Chaos

About Me

Katie Cason, singer/songwriter and resident of Anchorage, Alaska, composes lyrical imageries carried on folk melodies which often times communicate disappointment turned hope."Katie has the voice of an alto angel,” Josh Fryfogle of the Frontiersman describes. And Josh Cole tells of how she invites you into Katieland, a place where you will find crayola daydreams, uncensored thoughts and “love smiling back at you”Songwriting captured Katie at the age of 7 when she discovered her preference to compose original music as opposed to practicing her piano lessons. Later she picked up her first guitar and chord book in Miami which proved to become her portable instrument of choice as she traveled Central and South America during childhood years and later on Europe and Asia.Subsequently her early stages of songwriting have evolved into projects found in coffee shops, stages, churches, and recording studios. After recording 2 full length albums and a demo with her Kenai based band 2 Cent Syndicate she moved to Anchorage and played in an acoustic folk band, Something Simple, who toured most of Alaska for 2 years.Katieland is a solo project which has taken Katie Cason on travels around Alaska and Hawaii with plans to visit the lower 48 this year. Currently her 6 song EP is available for purchase and she will be releasing her first solo album in the winter of ‘08. Click here to view a bigger version of my map!
