About Me

29, Vegan, Utilitarian, Animal rights activist, Likes to travel, Likes to party, Compassionate, Funny, SingleSee the world with the eyes of the oppressedNazism is terrible. Jews, disabled, and dissidents were tortured and slaughtered in millions during World War II. Many people see this as the worst crime in human history. Many people cannot understand how the hatred against these groups could grow so strong. Many people are still unaware of, or prefer to ignore, injustices of today. Few realize that the largest crime in human history continues and has continued almost since the birth of man. The suffering of this crime far surpasses the suffering created by the Nazis.Speciesism, and with it the killing of non-human animals, is seen as an integrated part of society. As accepted as it was being a Nazi in Germany during World War II, as accepted as it was having slaves in the South during the mid 19th century, as accepted has it been and still is today – eating meat or wearing skin. “They are only animals”, we say today. “They are only Jews”, they said in Germany during World War II.Eating meat is a most natural thing for many people. It is accepted by society and you do not give it much thought. Though there are no ethical motives whatsoever for the indirect support of suffering and death among animals, we continue to eat meat and buy skin clothes. Similar mechanisms that today lay behind the abuse of animals probably lay behind the hatred against Jews in Germany during the ‘30s and ‘40s, and the view on slaves in the South during the mid 19th century.Pain is pain no matter where it comes from and I strongly believe that we have to enlarge the moral circle to encompass all feeling creatures. In order to achieve this we must begin by trying to see the world with the eyes of the oppressed.
