A slut-punk influenced punk band with a dash of alleycat rock. Franking Privileges is a band that isn't afraid to make up their own musical genres. Single guitar, bass, drums, and vocals comprise the band.

FRANKING PRIVILEGES
Stevensville, Michigan is home to Franking Privileges, the quirkily monikered band whose music is as spitfire and personality driven as the title suggests. Like excited molecules zipping all over the stage, the music jostles with manic, fired-up energy. This indie punk band has all the attitude and just the right music for fiercely independent listeners and beneath all the rebelliousness is real intelligence. This is smart iconoclasm with the fun enthusiasm of a child.
Burst
Music makes the members of Franking Privileges a self-described slut punk band fill to the brim, almost to bursting, with emotional reaction. Said one member, Music makes me feel like the most extreme, hardcore, ecstatic person on the planet, with a touch of sensuality and an underlying theme of intense rage. That's how Franking Privileges' music is for its listeners. It's a resonant, primal reaction in the hearer, the music hits in such a visceral way, that a multitude of emotion erupts at once in a Big Bang white hot frenzy, which, come to think of it, is a good way to describe the band's music.
Look Out
Careful or the on-fire songwriting of Franking Privileges will make you yet another casualty. Frisky, boisterous guitar with just the right level of distortion, manic drums, excited vocals it may sound chaotic but if so, it is a controlled chaos. This is loudness as statement. Pay attention, you'll hear melodies in the aggression of the guitar. Note the vocals; their frenzy is the perfect pitch for the assertiveness the band is trying to get across. The drums they're constructing the perfect aggro rhythms for a band that bursts with individuality and a refusal to back down.
Biorhythms?
Putting together a piece of music is an art of organizing a rhythm to align with a listener's biorhythm. That's according to Franking Privileges. As noted, this is not chaos. This is finely constructed musical scaffolding. Notes and their instrumental purveyors are lined up in such a way as to cause the vibration of the listener's body; soon that vibration works its way deeper and touches the brain. Then, the mind gets involved. And before you know it, the listener's mind and body are in sync with each other and a release of energy is achieved that could fuel the whole west coast for years to come, if only it could be harnessed. Perhaps we should attach some power chords to Franking Privileges and some of the band's listeners. Art rock, slut punk, metal, hip hop, so long as it syncs together both band, MC, artist, or musician with the listener some great feat has been performed; to audibly fuck and be fucked by both creator and witness.
Society
The socio-political textures of the culture around them is great inspiration for the members of Franking Privileges. Politics, activism, suffering, even life as a whole these things all put the nuclear reaction into the hearts of Franking Privileges' membership, resulting in songs that burn brighter than the sun and speak in ways that get all of us fired up and ready to chew on something. Franking Privileges' music is proof that music can be a tool of social change. This band is a perfect example of that.
Trailblazing
Franking Privileges is leaving behind it a trail of fire like the car in Back to the Future. The band is one the move with no signs of slowing down. A two-week tour along the east coast brought them in touch with hungry fans and the release of an EP entitled A Train Wreck (Paribus Records) has given the band further exposure. Also, a full-length CD is in the works. The band's current music is available at www.interpunk.com and www.cdbaby.com.
Light
Music this hot can't be contained; in fact, it's destined to burst free with the speed of light. Franking Privileges is currently working with A&R Select, a leading A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
