Slugger Trask was raised Miami Ok. He was childhood friends With the late Steve and Cassie Gaines ( of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame ) and younger brother Bob Gaines. Ace Moreland, Barry Rapp ( of The Henry Paul Band and Ghost Riders ) so you can see this generation was loaded with musical talent for such a small town. Slugger and his brother Skipper, were born into a musical family were his mother influenced them at a young age. Slugger learned trumpet in grade school but soon found his calling on a piano. Through his early years he was in numerous band including The TNT Band which was founded by Slugger and his brother Skipper . In the early 80's Slugger and Skipper moved to Jacksonville Fl to try and jump start their music career. They met Mark Lockhart through mutual friend Bob Gaines and imediately became best of friends. Mark and Slugger founded The Diamond in the Rough Band. This was a rock band with high energy. Sluggers talent spead like wild fire and his soulful voice left people amazed. It wasn't long before Slugger was recruited by Bob Greenly, owner of Kingsnake Records out of Sanford Fl, and Guitar exstrordinar Drew Lumbar and they formed Dr. Hector an the Groove Injectors. During the years with Dr. Hector Slugger played and tour with such greats as Alex and James Taylor, B.B. King, Greg Almond, Cocoa Taylor, Bo Didley, members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, 38 Special, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, The Henry Paul Band, and The Cate Brothers, just to name a few. Dr Hector Recorded 4 solid albums and had, a very successful run. Slugger left Dr. Hector in the mid 90"s. He started The Slugger Grand Slam Band which lasted just a couple years. Up until 2000 Slugger had several bands which included, Stepdaddy and Mudcat with only local success. Mark and Slugger began recording tracks in Jan of 2006 and 6 weeks later the demo album Slugger Trask Groove Injected was born. Now back together with his long time friend he has been rejuvinated and the creative juices have begun to flow. Slugger is an incredible vocalist, musician, songwriter and composer. Watch out for this band. If you like a blues based music with an edge, this is a must listen. Slugger and Mark have already began writing the sequil and are also working on a chistian project. give Thank You Lord and Come And Follow My Jesus a listen. We hope you like it.Mark Lockhart hails from Oceanside Ca. Like Slugger Mark started playing music at a very youg age. Influenced by his father a world class vocalist, Mark began playing the clarinet in second grade. His music teachers were Mr. Reed, and Mr. Kimble for those of you locals who took a music program in the S.D school system. By 5th grade Mr. Richard Halseth had taken over the music program and convinced Mark to take up the sax. Which he played through High School. When Mark was in Jr. High Mr Halseth moved to Oceanside High School, (where Mark Later followed thank God) and Mr. Ritchie Langin ( of the Langin Brothers Band ) took over at Jefferson Jr. High and started teaching Mark how to play a bass guitar, Mr. Langen had Mark join his nephew, Jay Wesloh, and drummer Mike Quiros ( of Incognito ) to form The Outcast Band, where he played until high school. After high school Mark moved to Jax Fl. where he met Bob Gaines a drummer ( younger brother to the Great Steve and Cassie Gaines ). They soon became best of friends and played in several local bands together. Shortly after, Bob introduced Mark to Slugger and Skipper Trask of his home town of Miami Ok. They had a band called TNT ( Trask&Trask ) and recorded their first album in Long Branch Recording, Tulsa Ok. ( then owned by Eric Clapton ) But soon after Slugger moved to Jax. permanently where he and Mark founded Diamond in the Rough, with guitar wizard Toni Butrum. After Slugger was signed with Kingsnake Records. Mark kicked around Jax Playing with several small groups. One of which was Mixed Nut's featuring the late Leon Wilkerson( of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame ) and Susan Clark daughter of Roy Clark. In the late 80's when Skynyrd reunited, Mark moved back to Calif where he and his brother formed The Eggmen, later changed to Blind Dog and tooled around the local clubs in S.D. for a few years. In 1991 Mark moved to L.A. He stayed out of the main stream music life until reuniting with Slugger in Oct. of 2005. Mark went to Ok. in Jan of 2006 where he and Slugger along with guitarists Glenn Sears and Chuck Maiseroulle recorded their new 16 track demo. Slugger and Mark are putting together some remarkable local talent to form The Slugger Trask Blues Band. Watch out San Diego Because this band ROCKS. the rest of the bands bios will be added as soon as they are complete. Keep watching...Glenn Sears hails from the northeast Oklahoma and started playing live venues at the young age of 13. His early years began by playing with and influenced by older area musicians, with strong blues and R&B roots, his strongest early influence being Sateve Gaines (of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame). Glenn moved to Macon , Ga. in 1974 to play with the band Sow Belly , which evolved into the first Ace Morelsnd band. Included in this band was drummer, Alfred Thomas who alslo was playing with James Brown at the time, Barry Rapp (of Henry Paul fame) on keyboards, and Ace Moreland on vocals and Guitar. During this time Glenn also played with or jammed on stage with, the Wet Willy Band, Elvin Bishaop, Charlie Daniels, the Almond Brothers, John Lee Hooker, Grinder Switch, Johnny and Edgar Winters, Freddy King, and Bobby Whitlock when he first signed with Capricorn Records. Glenn also began hanging out at Capricorn Studios and was fortunate enough to do some recording with various artists. During this time period, Glenn also recorded at Fame Studios in Mucleshoals, Alabama and Criteria Studios, in Miami Florida. At the end of 1976 Glenn returned to Oklahoma, where he played with various artist, studied jazz theory in college, and was fotunate to take guitar lessons from country swing legend Eldon Shamblin (of Bob Wills fame) In the me 80's Glenn returned to his blues and R&b roots and began fine tuning his song writing skills. Around 1992 Glenn went to Florida to play with old friend, Slugger Trask, when Slugger left Dr. Hector to start his solo career. Glenn began hanging out and playing with various King Snake Record artist's. During this time Glenn did some session work at Kingsnake and other Florida studios. In 1994 Glenn returned to Oklahoma and played locally until going to Nashville ,Tenn. With Slugger Trask in late 1995. While in Nashville, Glenn and Slugger worked on a Rockin Soul project that involved Joe Scathe and Jim Cotton at the Music Mill. Slugger and Glenn also recorded in Memphis during this time period. Because of a serious family illness Glenn and Slugger returned to Oklahoma with the project unfinished. Glenn took a break from playing music , and began working as a counselor. Glenn is curently playing again on weekends with Polly Ess who won the best blues vocalist in Tulsa award ealier this year. also included in this the Polly Ess band is bassist Leon Rollerson, (of early Gap Band fame) drummer Chuck Browning ( who played with Leon Russell, J.J. Kale, Eric Clapton, and other Tulsa area musicians), pianist Annie Walser (Annie Pianie), who has played with Tulsa blues legends such as Flash Terry, and Guitarist Billy McNielis .
