About Me

Maxim lives and works in New York. He plays the violin. With string quartets and orchestras. On Broadway. In the studios. In Central Park when they put on free opera performances in the summertime. Maxim plays violin with a band called Antony and the Johnsons . They make people cry. He plays with Williamsburg shoegaze dreamers Edison Woods , but his violin goes through so many pedals that you might not recognize it as such. He moonlights with Joan As Policewoman , Keren Ann , Redhooker and many other exceptional artists working around the city. He was one of the founding members of Slow Six , an electro-acoustic ensemble where he played alongside guitars and computers. Once, he played with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. That was so cool.
When he's not playing the violin, he's writing for it. Antony, Joan, Rufus Wainwright, Linda Thompson and Lou Reed are some of the people who have performed his charts. Most recently, he has been helping his friend Baby Dee put together an exquisite collection of material for a new album entitled Book Of Songs. His orchestral arrangements of the music of Pink Floyd have been presented by his friends The Machine alongside the Detroit and San Diego Symphonies and the Delaware Orchestra.
His music can be heard underscoring the brilliant upcoming documentary Hidden Battles .
Maxim also writes music using top-modern sequencers with his friend Jeremy as part of The Government and when it gets played at parties, people tend to get up and dance.
One day, Maxim will get his act together and do his own music. Dare to dream.
