About Me

"Some Way"
Booyah!
In anticipation of playing at Rock2Wgtn this year, we jumped in the studio to record a 2nd EP for the event. Luckily for you, we still have some left! We did a limited run of these so there ain't all that many! It's a dual disc bonanza with our first EP 'What You've Been Waiting For' and our new one 'My Name is Sin' which includes the track of the same title, a new rendition of 'Kneel at the Altar' and the long overdue video for 'Some Way' is on there as well! Intense!
And all that for $20! To order just click on the image above and send us an email with your details. We also still have T-Shirts available so if you'd like one of those then email to find out more!

The worship of music. This is the meaning of Sonic Altar. Through the love of their medium, Sonic Altar soars above the crowd with a dazzling live show that has received critical acclaim from industry moguls. The band's goal is to revitalize rock and bring it back to its glorious beginnings while letting as many people as possible enjoy the experience.
The band has influences across many genres and finds it exciting to be able to draw these influences to create a unique yet enticing sound. Sonic Altar work as a tight unit, and everyone has input into the writing process. Right from the formation of the band, ideas have been flowing; providing an ever-increasing repertoire. The band entertains fans at every opportunity, giving their all at every performance. At present Sonic Altar are working towards establishing a wider audience and following here in New Zealand, and allowing more people to hear and experience their music. The band is always exerting an energy that many people can relate to, and invite the world to experience this with them.
In 2006, Sonic Altar took out the NZ final of the World Battle of the Bands leading them to the world final in Hong Kong in November '06. Over in Hong Kong the lads placed 3rd in the World.
2007 brought a lot more work into the schedule than was first expected. Sonic Altar released a 5 track EP entitled 'What You've Been Waiting For', filmed a music video to follow and embarked on a successful national tour in September through to early October '07.
2008 brings even more exciting times for Sonic Altar. March 2008 the 6 piece played on the same bill as legendary rockers Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, Alice Cooper, Poison, Whitesnake and the latest shock rock sensation Lordi at Rock2Wgtn. For the event Sonic Altar recorded another EP with 4 tracks entitled 'My Name is Sin'.
In the vast sea of unsigned bands, Sonic Altar stands out from the crowd with its unique and revitalizing sounds; we also believe we have what it takes to achieve our goal of breathing fresh air into a stagnating rock scene. Tired of all these overly showy and ignorant new bands, Sonic Altar aim to bring rock back to its roots. Don't believe us? Then listen for yourself.
