Music - from playing it, to listening to it, through to collecting it. I miss vinyl but I'm coming around to downloads / Ipods. I like Fender guitars (particuarly telecasters), acoustic guitars, bluegrass instruments (F scroll mandolins are a particular favourite), Fender tube amps, playing live & home recording. I enjoy photography, cars, cult TV and film. I have a mild fascination with history, ranging subjects as varied and bizarre as law enforcement & the US Civil War. I also like to put effort into how I look whilst creating the illusion that I really haven't made any effort at all! I also spend far too much time online & have a Wikipedia addiction...
Like minded musicians / fans. Friends from days gone by, heroes both past & present; and people who have stuff in common. The shere amount of spam requests make me feel obligated to point out that I'm considerately less keen to meet people who wouldn't know a good song if it kicked them up the arse, web cam girls, bullies, racists, fascists & thugs. Not a big fan of muso snobs, either. Also friend whores who clearly haven't looked at my profile - if you're 17yrs old, into Pussycat Dolls & Big Brother 19, I have to ask why send me PMs telling me I look kinda fun - you don't to me!?!
Check out some of my MySpace Friends for further reference - The Band, Flying Burrito Brothers, The Byrds, Manassas, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, OCMS, Drive By Truckers, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Curtis Mayfield, Burrito Deluxe, Dwight Yoakam, Proper soul music, 50s rock n roll, the 60s, loads of stuff from the 70s.... The list goes on & only helps serve as evidence that I was born in the wrong era!
Planet of the Apes. The Star Wars Trilogy. Most of Clint Eastwood's films. Logan's Run. The Omega Man. Fahrenheit 451. The fine, fine work of Laurel & Hardy. Man Called Noon. Jerimarah Johnson. The Raid.
Far too much at times...Over the years in no particular order - King of the Hill. CHiPs. Family Guy. My Name Is Earl. Starsky & Hutch. South Park. Have I Got News For You. Ashes to Ashes. North & South. Scrubs. The Sweeney. Minder. The original 60s shows like Star Trek or Batman. Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The Fall Guy. Alan Partridge. Louis Thereoux. Michael Moore. Simpsons. The Fall Guy. Life On Mars. Jeremy Paxman. The odd BBC4 music show.
I mainly read music biographies in a bid to appear to be one dimensional!?! Recently I've enjoyed Levon Helm's book on The Band, several books on Gram Parsons, the Johnny Cash autobiography and books on The Stones, Bob Dylan, lynyrd skynyrd, Waylon Jennings, The Dillards & loads more. Away from the music stuff, just a bit of political satire - but not too much, y'hear?.
Like many wise men, I've based my life on that of 70s/80s TV legend Tom Wopat!
