NEW HARD ROCK/ INDUSTRIAL SONGS AVAILABLE

About Me

THE BAND
Artifex is a Bologna-based band founded back in 1997 by Antonio "Mircea" Olivo (voice/guitar/electronics) afterwards joined Vito Laterza (ex-Natron) on bass and Francesco Paonessa on drums. The stylistic evolution through the years has led Artifex to "reach" a personal dimension sound. The sound is an HardRock / Industrial dilated and wide where electronic parts, are fused to rock and crossover, with an approach that touches even marginally the progressive, creating a powerful and engaging music. Artifex with their own music want to recall that "verve" which had the great bands of the 70s, developing their sound in a modern key through the "balance" between analog and digital.Three CDs self-produced, Tristis'97, In-Side'01 and Artifex ‘03, which gave the band the opportunity to grow-up more musically, experiment in the studio and live thanks to participation in several national festivals, key elements for success to create a dimension that would also involve the visual aspect.
THE BIO
Artifex was created in 1997 by Mircea and got launched into underground world just an year later with the first demo named "Tristis". From here started their first connection to labels and metal magazines. In 2001, Artifex released their first album called "In-Side". This new work used to sound much different than the first one, providing a more seventies-like-sound and more intimistic lyrics, on a perfect "dark wave" tradition. "In-Side", like their first release, had been a self-production but was distributed nation-wide gaining respect and plaudit, geting quite good reviews by magazines and critics. In the same year, Artifex joined "I-Tim tour" , an Italian contest, and played in front of 40.000 and getting good critics. Atferwards they got interviewed by various programs broadcasted by Italia1, Mtv and Stream. After a bunch of performances, they joined "Rock Targato Italia" competition, getting in the top five. In 2002 and 2003 Artifex doubled "I-Tim tour", figuring on RockTv screens. After that they got interviewed by RockTv, showing the live-video of their song called "The Strongest Law". In 2003 a new release by Artifex saw the lights, to be spreaded throughout music labels. 8 brand new songs, more rock-style, featuring synths and samples not to belong to a unique music style. In the first 2004 Artifex move to Bologna to grow up even more. Soon starting looking for new members and getting in touch with several music men. After a little time spent in tasting and experimenting, a new line-up was born. In March "The Strongest Law" was included in "Trofeo Pilastro City" compilation, distributed by Barrakuda Records.
