Micol

Hi.

About Me

Half Jewish, half Puerto Rican, half student, half writer, half chocolate, half peanut butter. Often half asleep. Very into reading, running, writing, chocolate, and inappropriate quantities of bad television. Check out my website at www.micolostow.com.

My Interests

Books, carbs, sunny days, dogs, people or things that are very, very funny, tabloids, lip gloss, comfortable shoes, DVR, caffeine, Halloween, Television Without Pity, the ever-elusive bingo on a triple-word score....and lots of other things, i suppose....

I'd like to meet:

Readers, writers, adoring fans....online scrabble partners, bon vivants.

Music:

The Wrens, The Pixies, Arcade Fire, Interpol, The Postal Service, Ani DiFranco, The Shins...dunno--what are the cool kids listening to these days?

Movies:

Anything Kubrick, Hitchcock, or John Hughes. Loved 'True Romance' and 'Clueless' in equal measures. Anything produced by 2.1 Films.

Television:

This is where it gets embarrassing: all manner of reality dreck but especially 'Project Runway,' 'Apprentice,' and "America's Next Top Model,' 'Lost,' '24,' 'Gilmore Girls,' most HBO dramas, and 'Friends' in syndication. Of course, The Buffster will always be my first and last true love.

Books:

'Emily Goldberg Learns to Salsa,' 'Mind Your Manners, Dick and Jane,' 'The Secret Blog of Raisin Rodriguez.' And also: 'The Poisonwood Bible,' 'Feed,' 'Bridget Jones' Diary,' 'Me Talk Pretty One Day,' 'Prep,' 'Helter Skelter,' 'Oryx and Crake,' all Stephen King, all the time.

Heroes:

My parents and brother, Noah Michael Harlan, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oh, and Maureen Dowd--not. And the many trailblazing authors of teen lit out there (and in here).

My Blog

Dark horse candidate

It should come as a surprise to exactly no one that I love to read. My bedroom (and living room, and dining room table) are cluttered with "to be read" stacks, and, I mean, I named my *dog* Bridget Jo...
