Always searching, never finding...

About Me

Raised Baptist/fundamentalist, but my artistic and philosophic nature kept me sad and searching, looking for something more. I'm still looking. Even though I cried when I first entered a Catholic Church, knowing it was finally home, it still hurts that I find so much dissent from Catholic teaching within the Church and if there is no dissent, apathy. I desire to find answers, peace, love, and joy and the kind of communication with the Body of Christ that can help make that possible. And I desire truth. I know that no one human person can do that. I acknowledge that our spirits find sustenance in the Holy Spirit, our bodies find a union with Christ in Christ's body and blood through the Eucharist, but our souls need filling too and that can start to be met through other like--minded people and eventually maybe through the intimate union of marriage. But I am FAR from the person I need and want to be yet. I can be extremely loving, compassionate, generous to a fault, and faiithful to those I love, although I grieve at times when I've hurt people, especially those for whom I care the most, in my momentary lapses. As for sense of humor, mine can be either very sly and dry or downright silly and I get a kick out of practical jokes and giving little scares. I'm also a kid at heart and still love cartoons and toys or model kits (like the old Aurora monster models from the 1960s). These things help me balance my much more serious side. By training I'm an artist/illustrator working in retail. I freely admit to lack direction in my artwork at present. I'm good at genre art and enjoy painting the human figure as is evidenced by some of the paintings at my website. But that can present some problems for a single Catholic person striving to do the right thing, even though I enjoy doing the paintings and recognize that there is no "sin" in artistic portrayals of the human form per se. With that in mind, I am wanting to direct my artwork towards more serious subject matter than before and for commissioned work, keep in mind that I will be very reticent in accepting any commissions involving nudity at this time, although I won't completely rule it out

Hi - Every once in awhile you hear music that you want to share with friends. Well, this is one of those occasions. I have partnered with the Artist to help promote the CD and wanted to share this great music with you... Seriously, Lynn Carey Saylor is REALLY GREAT and I think the song "I Wasn't a Friend" needs to be played on every radio station around. It's a heartfelt song about the artist's agony over not taking the keys from a friend who chose to drive drunk. And her version of Pat Benatar's "We Belong" (including help from the writers of the song) SMOKES! Anyway, check her CD out at the link and when you purchase the CD, you can immediately download the CD to your computer while you're waiting for the actual disc to arrive at your home. Click the banner below to listen to this Artist. When you order the physical CD you immediately get the download of the entire CD for free!...Bryan

I'd like to meet:

When it comes to heroes, I wish C.S. Lewis were still alive and I could go to England to meet him. Of course, if the question is more about lifetime partners, I would love to meet someone who has depth, and is acquainted and understands sadness, but who can also be a bit of a smart aleck and can laugh and joke. A plus is that she still has her inner child" intact and likes stuff like "Pooh" or "Peter Pan". In "It's A Wonderful Life," George Bailey's mom tried to pair him up with Mary Hatch because she was the type of woman who could help George find the answers, so I desire someone who can challenge me and I can learn from as much as she can from me. And of course, its just as good to have these qualities in my friends as well. Oh, and its very important to note that in the case of a potential marriage partner, do keep in mind that it took me a long time and I had to go through a lot to come to a place where I felt "called" to the Catholic Church, and I could never turn again from being able to take the Eucharist. So, with deep regret, I can only consider a serious romantic relationship with anyone married previously if she is either widowed, her original marriage lacked proper form, or if there has been a Church approved annullment

Music:

I like a number of styles of music. My favorite style is probably 1960s and early 70s classic rock such as Yes, The Grateful Dead, CCR, or the Beatles. I also like Buddy Holly, Elvis, and the Everly Brothers. But I also love the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Dean Martin, Cab Calloway, and Al Jolson from an earlier era, and even some classical music. I still enjoy a lot of country, particularly Johnny Cash and Randy Travis. Presently, I enjoy Shakira, Thalia (both latina singers), Norah Jones, Katie Melua, Milla Jovovich (who I consider to be a performance artist AND singer in the Tori Amos mode), Tori Amos, and Alicia Keys (particularly her second CD with "Dragon Days" and "Heartburn". And lately there are a lot of great artists on MySpace that I've begun to really love! Check out 13 Stories by clicking on their link above. There's also singer/guitarist/songwriter Lynn Carey Saylor who is really fantastic!

And if your love is piano, Christine Anderson does some great improvisational songwriting herself! In addition, click on their links in my friends' list as well as those of Marla Sokoloff and Cindy Alexander and Swiss sensation Anna Sahlene and rocker Cori Yarckin.
Now, heres a video from Katie Melua's first CD entitled "Call Off the Search" (http://www.katiemelua.com) She sings "My Aphrodisiac is you in this video. .. width="425" height="350" ..

Movies:

"WE BELONG", performed by LYNN CAREY SAYLOR, Feat. BRIAN MAY, LOWEN & NAVARRO

Lynn Carey Saylor covers the classic Pat Benatar 1984 hit, "We Belong" with the help of some special friends. Featured performing on the song with Lynn and in this montage of rough cut studio footage set to the recorded track, is Queen guitarist Brian May and "We Belong" songwriters Eric Lowen & Dan Navarro. Also featured are recent Queen + Paul Rodgers tour musicians Danny Miranda (bass) and Spike Edney (keyboards). "We Belong" appears on Lynn's independent solo record "You Like It Clean", which features the song, along with 10 other cuts written entirely by Lynn. For more information and purchase links, see http://Lynnsmusic.com or http://www.Lynncareysaylor.com/CD.html To hear more of Lynn's material, visit her myspace page at http://Lynnsongs.com Casablanca is by far my favorite movie of all time. But I have a HUGE movie collection including comedy, horror, suspense, action films, dramas, animation, fantasy and sci-fi, and some westerns. Among the favorites are Used Cars, Blazing Saddles, Mystery Men, Big Trouble In Little China, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Music Man, Re-Animator, Braveheart, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, The Alamo, Spider-man 1 and 2, Galaxy Quest, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Manchurian Candidate, all the Star Wars saga, and the original Night of the Living Dead.

Recently I've got a big kick from Alias starring Jennifer Garner and the greatest sci-fi program of all time is Babylon 5!

Books:

The Chronicles of Narnia, The Four Loves, (by C.S. Lewis), The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, books by Peter Kreeft, Francis Schaeffer, Scott Hahn, Rod Bennett (Four Witnesses), Jeff Cavins, and Thomas Howard.
