she found herself lost

in his labyrinthine eyes

but her fears ate away

made it hollow inside

not searching for love

she looked for ways out

from the trap that she'd known

felt the reasonable doubt

that one day they'd leave

no longer together

so instead she just shied

and let herself sever

but the end would not come

for another plan destined

something was different

made her defenses lessen

he was done with this life

felt there was nothing to offer

had the gun to his head

at the moment he saw her

a break in the clouds

as the rain still poured down

'til that light hit his face

felt the darkness inside

slowly being replaced

couldn't put his trigger finger on it

but something infectious just hit like a comet

that this was a moment

not to be forgotten

her lips were a poison

the longing to taste

there was something about him

she just couldn't place

the way two broken toys

could fix themselves up

to live in a dream

not relying on luck

so together they grew

equal but separate

in action and measure

neither were desperate

ties that were binding

by some sort of magic

the audience waited

for the end to be tragic

but that end would not come

and determined by choices

different possible outcomes

by inflection of voices

but what fun is the story

when the ending is known

this story is not

chiseled in stone

it can go any way
