SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? are ISABELLE GERNAND (Voice, Lyrics, Programming), TIM KROKER (Drums, Programming, Voice) and MARC WERNER (Keys, Percussion, Programming, Lyrics, Composition).
What started as performance-group first and developed into SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? by winning the cultural price for popular music in Germany, lead through the first album "TUMULTE". Taken from this debut the clubhit "LES FLEURS DU MAL" came from which is for two years now still included in many DJ-charts. SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? managed to create their own sound and thus could leave the band behind that only covered their idols. After their surprisingly successful debut "TUMULTE" the two MCD's "LIBERTINAGE" und "ANNORLUNDA" followed which showed "SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? - in full effect" (New Life). April 1995 the second longplayer "LES ENFANTS SAUVAGES" was released ("a MUST for the electro-freak") providing several club hits already. "A great album, nice work" (New Life), "extremly dancable rythms and catching melodies" (EB Musikmag.), "SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? are on the rigth way to become one of the most important electro act", "nothing should stand in their way anymore to achieve the big success" etc. wrote the press enthusiastically.
With clubhits like "LES FLEURS DU MAL", "SOUVENIR", "TO BE", "STRENGES MÄDCHEN" "SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? guarantee full dancefloors" (Hofkurier). Next to their 4 Cd-realeases also several videos were made, since they funded their own video producing company and all videos were shown on MTV's Guide to Alternative Music as well as on the German Music Channel VIVA TV. Moreeover more than 12(!) tapes were released meanwhile and distributed all over the world through an underground network working completely independantly.
Impressive also the list of the people SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? worked with. It reads like a "Who-is-who" of the international electro + crossover szene: KMFDM, PANKOW, FRONT 242, A SPLIT SECOND, JOACHIM WITT, CASSANDRA COMPLEX, DIE WARZAU, MEATHEAD, APOPTYGMA BERZERK, BAL PARÉ, CARLOS PERON, BRAZIL and many more (influences list). Also in their live-performance SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? cannot be compared with other electronic bands. They are "miles away from the Playback-cramps of some other bands" (Rundschau Neubrandenburg), as every show has a different set and only the basis is done with the computer, which leaves a lot of room for improvisation and vividly live-show. "Be ready and watch out for their show, don't miss any new album, but make sure to see this band live!" And this the audience could already do in Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France and Austria.
A very special live set SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? have reserved for special occasions (e.g. ELECTRONIC ARTS SYNDROM, CONGRESS FOR FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES, WORLD OF COMMODORE, NIGHT OF "O", EUROTICA, etc.) for which they have created an outstanding show (PERFORMANZE I-III). It is a mixture of various similarly shown video projections which are combined with live-shots from a live-camera during the show. This is again mixed with computer animations which are as FINE-MEDIA-Magazin wrote "one of the best animations that have ever been developed on AMIGA". This show was sometimes also combined with two male dancers and other "victims" as well as with a pyrotechnical show, which can only be compared to shows of world stars, but here it was all done by an artistic organization. As "band in the original meaning SABOTAGE-Q.C.Q.C.? cannot be named anymore" (Ffm. Rundschau).
Prof. Dr. Franz Liebl once wrote for his Siam Letter: "...the band radiated a physical presence, which surprised me in its intensity. I had high musical expectations, but the CD TUMULTE didn't promise too much: Rearranged for the live shows, the tracks seemed even more powerful and more compact.... SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? for me is the wonderful incarnation of a paradoxon: Techno, played live with musicians, including drums and vocals, this can be called uncomparable in this music scene. Unusual for this CD-producing band also to still be working in the tape-underground. SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? have no fear to work with everybody and they don't know any dogmatism. A definite feeling for hook-lines meets the ability for electricistic sound synthesis. You think they sound like .., or like ..., no, more like...and so on. The art piece they develop is to keep absolute coherence in each moment. And so we all had the feeling after a much too short concert, that we only were able to catch a glimpse of the SABOTAGE-universe . A very subtle kind of submission..."
Neither the show, nor the music of SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? can be clearly categorized. The "empty roots of being" still are a secret and like the figures in DAVID LYNCH's "Twin Peaks" SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.? change their character. And why ? Because they feel like it ! Another approach on the borderlines of human thinking, maybe a mathematic approach to the hereafter? But as in "TWIN PEAKS" the unrestrained fixation on enjoying instincts is the main subject for SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.?. Around the promise of a neverending pleasure also here are created the bizarre metaphors. This neverending pleasure should be achieved through the offence of the incest-prohibition (LEVI STRAUSS) "We fuck ourselves!" But let's also here remember the dream massage of the giant to agent Cooper: "The owls are not, what they seem to be" this is pragmatically right for TWIN PEAKS, but also for SABOTAGE -Q.C.Q.C.?. The pictures, not even the sounds are what they seem to be. This is the postmodern age, this is the law of the satire !
