In Eastern Europe is a place of many superstitions, many of which are based on magical truth. The Great Spirit responsible for the most horrific of them is the Black Man of the Woods. As his name implies, this deity inhabits an expanse of primal forest, though its exact location has been expunged from mankind's memory. The Black Man is obsessed with blood; it is commonly required for his rituals and most of his lesser spirits feed upon it. He has speads terror and death for him in return for the strength to defend himself from his many enemies. He also created allurement of mysticism and ritual death on more than one occasion. It is quite possible that he inspired the modern conception of the Devil, though he has no relationship to the Jealous God. His enforcement of the Wild Hunt is among the most ruthless of any Great Spirit. Anyone who uses his rituals or crosses his spirits had better be ready to handle death by bloody assassination.
