And if it is a despot you would dethrone, see first that his throne erected within you is destroyed.

About Me

"let them that don't want none have memories of not gettin any." --Gamble rogers... I am grumpy... tired... pretty much just grumpy, and tired. I don't like to talk to most anybody, especially at first. So don't think yourself special if I don't talk to you. And don't think yourself special if I do talk to you. I've been living in Durham now for about a year and it's possibly the coolest place in the world. diggers. that's where it's at, man. i'm weird... .but hell man, i've gotta do SOMETHING. the end, for now.

Check out the radio show every Wednesday from 7-9am!! That's actually a link to listen via iTunes

My Interests

muscle cars, fire, roman candles, organic farmer's daughters, dancin' with them that brung me... books, family (blood and extended), non-stop dancing, kick ass music, good food (made from things that people i know have grown), people, anti-racist people, anti-sexist people, anti-classist people, sweet music (which means anything from eco-thrash speed metal to art-punk-geek-noise to old-time black banjo players to indonesian gamelan trance inducing... i could go on but i'll spare you), and pretty much i like anything that can be classified as brilliant, radical, sweet or wicked.

I'd like to meet:

anyone who is doing their best to be creative and thoughtful and actually do something with their lives other than the same old shit that's shoved down their throats by our culture and society... people with humility and understanding and able to realize that we all fall down sometimes... other than that: Archangel from Airwolf, Shane McGowan, Emma Goldman, Bill Burg, Ronnie Van Zant, Townes Van Zandt, Mary Wollstonecraft, Hegel, Newsom, Guy Debord, HS Thompson, The Boss, Hank Williams, Charlie Parker, the Mujeres Libres, Ingram Parsons, Tariq Ali, The Pope after he died -- to see the look on his face, Paul Robeson, William Godwin, Zappa, Stambaugh, Diego Rivera, Katie Lee, Raoul Vaneigem, Ward Churchill, Orwell, Louise Micheal, and a bunch of other dead and living people.

Music:

joe hill, hank sr., steve earle, iron maiden, minutemen, gang of four, max frost & the troopers, the boss, zappa, all my hometown heroes (uwharria, crimson spectre, filthybird, the strugglers, all astronauts, adam thorn and the top buttons, FKON, finks, the nein, des_ark, midtown dickens, strange, TBW, allnight, facedowninshit, geezer lake... anybody that i know or lives near me that rocks), THE pogues, elvis costello, need new body, otis redding, stone roses, the jam, MAGMA, !!!, soft machine, CCR, tatsuya yoshida, naked city, bad brains, lightning bolt, set fire to flame, slayer, happy mondays, joy division... oh man. i like rock and roll, roots rock and roll... you know, white boys ripping off old black folks and making craploads of money (Luther played the "strange" boogie woogie?? come on johnny, you know where it came from... you recorded leadbelly's entire catalog you fucker). i like the original stuff too. usually waaay more than the ripoffs (see elvis and otis blackwell). i like black sabbath even though they are some pasty white english dudes that were just playing the blues through crazy amplification. i like the "mods" who aren't mods anymore cause how can you be modern when modern meant the 70's or even the 80's ... i like music that you can dance to. i was raised on "folk" (not crap stevens or peter paul and killme... i mean the old english and scottist country dancing music and murder ballads) i was raised on old time, i was raised on country and western and western classical, i wasn't raised to listen to Queen -- but my parents still let me buy their record with my birthday money when i turned six... mostly i just really like music and when you move lots as a kid... your friends might not go with you or ever call or talk to you again... but as soon as you get in a new room... declan macmanus was always there to remind me that he too needed a human touch.

Movies:

wild in the streets, gator, monster squad, stir crazy, royal bottle rockets of rushing zissous, and anything by john sales and sam peckinpah.

Television:

land of the lost, dr. who, tomorrow people, ultraman, freaks & geeks, freeks and geeks the college years a.k.a. undeclared, doctor who, star tracks ... mostly tv makes us stupid. so i try real hard to to look at it and fail... but it gives me something to strive towards tomorrow

Books:

i read lots, so this is a difficult box for me to fill in. let's just say i'm reading four of five books at any time (road to wigan pier, Tao Te Ching, some book about psychadelic music that I can't remember the name of, the clash of fundamentalisms: crusades, jihads and modernity, a bunch of essays by Kant) ... i like to read and learn and escape and imagine and it's the place where i can go when i'm in a good mood or when i'm in a bad mood and books are never assholes to me... my grandmother used to love to take me to the liberry. one of my most favorite books is Grapes of Wrath -- the other day I heard someone talk about that book and they said the thing she got out of it was when we, people, are connected to the land -- to a specific piece of land -- then we have hope... not in the ownership way but in having a sense of place... not just drifting about willy-nilly... that reminded me that I Love North Carolina!

Heroes:

john train, tony clifton, malcolm x, the van zan(d)t's, john brown, louis riel, billy jack and quite a few others...oh yeah...and Marty Balin (did you see that dude take on those asshole Hell's Angels in Gimmie Shelter?? punched in the face and still sings for the rest of the show!)
