About Me

saXingh the man dedicated to opening up the valves of British-Asian music breathing new concepts into Indo-funk and blowing down the musical boundaries.
For saXingh the music and performance comes first, thats why youll find him grooving the stage with a Blues/Funk band as much as sliding shoulder to shoulder, sax in hand, through the hottest dance-floors.
Whether adding improvised notes to the latest deep-house DJs records or keeping a more orchestrated note within a funk ensemble saXingh makes his shimmer of gold the object of audience attention.
The passion oozes and indeed sweats from saXingh. His determination to spread his conch across all these musical genres is testament to a character whose professionalism sees him gain respect from the serious clubber to laidback blues-cat.
saXingh can also be blowing his heart away to receptive crowds at other popular and classy club nights including:
Flaunt (with Tommy Gallo) @ MASSA
Ultragroove (with Gareth Summerville) http://www.ultragroove.co.uk
Tokyo Blu @ Tokyo Nightclub, Le Monde & Ego,
Stereotype (Huggy) @ Berlin Beirhaus
Kinky Malkini (Paul James) in Glasgow.
3345 (Leon Easter) @ Cabaret Voltaire http://www.clubsoulfunky.com
Plus various stylish Edinburgh bars including Le Monde, Opal Lounge, Tiger Lily, 99 Hanover Street and Bar 38. In 2004, I had a monthly residency in VICE (a stylish west underground bar) managed by the soulful & groundbreaking Raff - check his music out at http://www.myspace.com/raffsoulman
He also has a longterm link with the Funkeymagic collectives where ad-libbing over the sexiest deep&funky house has become a natural addition to his talents. This environment gets the music right through the heart of dance-floor. Gasping for air in these enclosed spaces, feeling the heat and pulse of the sound and clubber united, saXingh uses his extensive yet expanding music knowledge to break down and play with tracks sometimes heard for the first time! A dangerous occupation for the less confident out there.

The extensive saXingh CV continues with organisation and promotion of events under saXingh Promotions, a group he founded with other musical allies. Here honing his skills off stage working with a team to bring together live eastern sounds over cleverly produced house beats. And in the studio, as an Indo-funk composer/producer, saXingh aims to spice up the current British-Asian music scene by introducing a fresh and funky style of breakbeat bhangra with live instrumentation, free improvisation and European influences. His debut track, The Spangra Funk (Funkin' 4 Punjab) was inspired by many styles of music and saXinghs extensive live musical experience with artists from the world over, but most of all, by his love of Funk and Bhangra!!!
Add this to requests by international DJ/producers Remote Control (Alola), Funky Transport (Classic/Flygaric) and Kelvin K (Moulton Studios), just to name a few, to add live saxophone to their music then you have finally got the saXingh package.
In demand and always with smile when saXingh has the Golden Conch, Its his turn to speak.

Sounds Like:
: I'm very lucky to be a British Born Asian and brought up surrounded by all styles of music from across the world. Early days included the pop princess of India, Lata Mangeshkar and the legendary Pink Floyd...haven't heard of any fusion of the two yet though! Take a listen to the Spangra Song and see if it sounds like anything...this tracks sums up the style of music I'm producing at the moment. I'm completely in love with soulful house music too...just can't get enough of the stuff and its what drives me to perform the way I do with DJ's - obviously a lively crowd helps, but its the music the DJ's spin which determines how/what I play...come down to one of my gigs and you'll see what I mean!
