I'm an Author, Publisher, Online Radio Host, Journalist, Motivational Speaker and Contributing Writer for Generations & Greatness a bi-monthly print Magazine www.gandgmag.com (pick up a copy to read my informative articles)
Unfortunately I'm not a publishing consultant. So if you want to know about the independent book market and how to get started please do not contact me as I have my own career and authors signed to my company. In the past I had a lot of free time, but now my days are not long enough. So instead of wondering how and when get a copy of my booklet "The Secrets Of Self Publishing" (A Booklet To Guide You). You can pre-order on amazon.com I made the price $5.00 when I could of priced it at $10. easily. I wanted everyone to be able to afford it. Buy the booklet. Nothing in this world is free. This is especially so when it comes to knowledge. I took 18 months out my life to learn about something I wanted to do (this is a lot of time and money-as I spent countless hours reading and going places). I don't like lazy people who think someone owes them something.I'm a firm believer that if you want something then you have to go out and seek it--unfortunately people don't have the time entertain everyone who wants to ask them a question. How would they get their own things done? If you don't want to study then write as a hobby and keep your job because the publishing business is a knowledge based one. You will get no where in this business without time, sacrifice and dedication to the art and learning of the business. IT'S THAT SIMPLE. Buy my booklet because I have taken out the time to give you a start and a lot more than most professionals in this industry will give you. Trust me--most will want $$$ regardless of whether they're providing you with quality service or not. Learn and keep learning so you get a round about idea of what you want and need. When you hire people be firm about what you want and expect. Don't expect overnight success or let anyone fill your head up with nonsense. Learn, put your work in and stay consistent. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Your going to find that most of what you hear is an illusion and lie. Be a writers and entrepreneur more than a fan. Just b/c you hear an authors name a lot it doesn't mean they're selling a lot of books or making a lot of money. I've sold a lot more books then a lot of authors who are more popular than myself. But b/c I don't entertain certain groups or befriend certain people I'm not in the in-crowd. But I'm not a groupie so thats how the chips fall. I'm the type of person who will do what he has to do regardless of the obstacles or what I have to learn. To me success is not having your name being talked about when your not reaping the benefits or able to make a decent living from what you do. Thats nonsense, ignorance and a good example of what a hood mentality is. You'll never get out the hood, be able to quit your job, stop hustling or whatever your doing to pay your bills thinking like this.
In 2003 I published my first book. After realizing that I was not prepared I took a 18 month hiatus to study the publishing industry. In Oct 2005 I republished "Love Don't Live Here" and have not stopped writing, publishing and being a force within the publishing world. From day one I made the conscious decision that I was not going to do whats in or popular. Instead I was going to put out books which have literary and social value.
In this business I'm popular but unpopular. I'm the guy they speak about quietly in circles. The visionary, intellectual, and individual who has no time for nonsense. Some of these folks would like me to just disappear. But I have not depended on them nor have I sought to fraternize with them. If you don't see me at places its not b/c I'm shy. Instead it's b/c I choose not to be there. I've made my friends here and there and put my work in. I'm not that person who goes out of his way to get along. I have my views and if you don't like them than keep it moving because I'm over here doing what I'm doing( and not asking anyone for anything). If I need a service than I'm willing to pay for it. If its something I can do or someone on my team can do then it gets done. I hear a lot of talk from folks who are more worried about what I'm doing more than I'm worried about what their doing. They visit myspace pages, my company site, always bringing up my name with negative vibes to others. "He's this and that type of person. Thinks he knows it all, nasty personality etc". All I can say to these people is "handle your business, do what you do and stay away from me. I believe in peace but I also believe in war as well. If you're looking for a problem then you'll definitely find it over here. All of my friends know I'm a giving person who likes to see the next person doing the best that they can do. If I'm nasty to someone then there is a reason. I don't like fake people, folks who try to act like their someone their not, folks who try to get over on others, or people who think their better than someone else. A lot of black writers talk about how their from the streets etc But it's easy to see they may of grew up poor etc but they never were making money, calling shots etc b/c when you make money you learn patience and that money gets made it doesn't make you.If you know this you just don't jump at opportunities without thinking about how it's going to affect you in the long run. When your a shot caller, this never changes no matter what situation you're in. You learn to learn what it is you need to learn and not be a groupie or leech onto others and with patience and persistence you'll find your way. Furthermore gossip in the streets will get you hurt. You talk about the wrong person and your bound to get in trouble sooner or later. So when I see these people get on the internet talking using nicknames for screen names or I hear them saying this and that about this and that person it really makes me wonder about where their minds at b/c I know that in the street talk is very serious. When you say things make sure it's what you mean b/c sooner or later 9 out of 10 times your words are going to travel to the persons circle who you were talking about (energy travels). It's ok to have friends, and it's also ok to have enemies. Not everyone is going to like you so get used to it. You can either be a leader or a follower. All leaders have people who dislike them because there are going to be others who hate you because they don't have it in them to be leaders. Then there are going to be others who want you to follow them. Therone follows no one. I never been that type of person, whether it was in school, in the streets or anywhere else. There is nothing wrong with being a follower either because not everyone has it in them to be an independent thinker or doer. Play your part, and mind your own business. Mind your own business--you step on the wrong person toes and somewhere down the line someone will deal with you. You could be the person on the top today but find yourself on the bottom years down the line by messing with the wrong person.
I'm not here to be the most liked. I'm not no ones sweetheart. I'm fair, honest, but I'm also driven, ambitious, opinionated and just as vicious as I am caring. If I don't like you. I don't like you because of your bad qualities, whether your a liar, schemer, fake etc. I don't deal with people with these qualities at all. I have a lot of people experience growing up in the streets so I'm gifted in this way of seeing people for who they truly are. You have to have come from game to recognize game. I'm a person with one face. What you see is what you get. If we're cool we're cool. If we're not we're not. Some people don't like my personality, they get around their groupie friends and talk trash. But these same folks try to be in my circle. Why? If they don't like me then stay away from me. I don't try to go around people I don't care for or people I have opposing views than. Birds of a feather flock together and I stay around people who I have a common ground and views with. When you strive to be around someone you have opposing views with or may not like it's b/c you fear that person and need to know what their up to or thinking. My advice to you is to not have your own views then b/c you'll be spending a lot of time talking about and keeping an eye on folks who don't agree with you. Life is too short so go hard, handle your business and live it to the fullest!!!
LITERATURE IS THE LAST FRONTIER TO FREE THINKING. AND AS LONG AS GOD BREATHS AIR INTO MY LUNGS I WILL NOT LET OUR VOICES & MINDS BE DILUTED WITH STEREOTYPES ALL FOR THE SAKE OF A DOLLAR, A FEW GREEDY FOLKS AND A BUNCH OF DUMB, DEATH AND BLIND FOOLS.

To Live And Die For Nothing
by Therone Shellman
A person who lives for nothing then has nothing to die for. What’s the worthy price for ones life, to die in the streets like a dog by a ghat or knife. A world within a world where we are born a boy and girl, but, somehow change into something subhuman and strange. The chase is on the lust for that thin green paper is so strong enticing everyone to come-come along. It’s a joy ride and high until you end up in jail or possibly die. Sell, drugs, mug, stick up and be a thug. Life’s a bitch and then you die! So who gives a f—k? What?…What did I hear you say, go to school set goals and become someone one day. That sounds so lame. I want what I want now the future seems so far away. What’s the meaning of life anyway?
