Sons of Muttley

About Me

In 2001, Carl & Ben (ex-Herb Garden) joined forces with sound engineer & bassist/producer Rich Wilson (ex-Southernaires, Doreen Doreen) to explore the studio setting and write songs. On the 'Faster Muttley' project they blended a broad range, folding in pop-folk melodies, funky-punk, campfire beats and raggle-taggle electronica. This wholesome, lovely gumbo was marinated in the stuff-of-dreams. Tragically, in the summer of 2004, having amassed a mountain of recordings, Rich died after a road-crash injury.Understandably, the music stopped. Now Carl and Ben have regrouped, and in tribute released, postumously, the Faster Muttley CD, which represents the spirit of the abundant studio-project material.Rich was a consummate musician and a passionate producer, always encouraging and indulging you with your ideas, but with a calm authority - a trait which we often called upon. Losing Rich seems impossible to comprehend but we will always cherish the memory of the man, the music-maker and friend. Sons of Muttley was born out of a wish to play live the songs recorded with Rich. In late 2004 Ratty (ex-Herb Garden), Trev, and Justin joined Ben and Carl to start playing the Faster Muttley material live and begin the process of writing new songs and record new material. Thanks for giving us a listen! We welcome any new buddies.
