Established in 1982. Kitchenware Records began as the recording wing of The Soul Kitchen, a once in a blue moon club which hosted the likes of Aztec Camera, The Fire Engines and New Order. The somewhat unconventional playlist extended from The Velvets through Orange Juice to Parliament and a Soul Kitchen night would often feature a film show or a photo gallery rather than a support act. The label would be equally eclectic
Over nearly 25 years Kitchenware Records has been home to acts such as the much lauded Hurrah, the hitmaking Kane Gang, virtuoso songwriter Paddy McAloon's Prefab Sprout, the renowned Martin Stephenson & The Daintees, the powerful Fatima Mansions and more recently the critically acclaimed platinum selling Editors.
Alongside Editors, other current acts on Kitchenware's ever diverse roster include kid:coda, Sirens, The Motorettes The Changes, Waiting For Volkaerts and Karima Francis.
