About Me

I haven't updated my profile since I joined about 2 years ago, so it's time to do a little house-cleaning...I like to eat omelettes at odd hours. I really do dance better when I'm drunk. I firmly believe "Family Guy" really is better than "The Simpsons". I can rave about movies like "Citizen Kane" or "Casablanca" and still turn around and laugh my ass off watching "Old School". I am an aspiring writer, and an amateur historian and social commentator.I left off climbing the Hollywood ladder in June 2006 to go work for the Peace Corps in rural West Africa. I alternate on a daily basis between desperately missing my old apartment in WeHo and thanking the stars that I was able to face my fears and make such a bizarre career shift. Still wondering if I'll try to pick up where I left in the entertainment industry when I get back to the States, but for the moment I've got PLENTY of time to contemplate that.

My Interests

theater (directing, writing); film-watching and filmmaking; reading; history; pretending to exercise; really good beer; people who are really, really, really *ridiculously* good-looking (points if you get the reference!)

I'd like to meet:

Friendly people. I like people. Except for the guy over there, slightly to your right. Yeah, YOU... shove off. Shame on you for reading over other people's shoulders. On a side note, I am afraid I will NOT add you as a friend if you are a stranger to me and you have not introduced yourself. So please, drop me a line before you drop me a request.

Music:

Anything really, but have a special love of oldies (50s to 70s) and swing... also Classical, Garbage, Pink Martini, The Kinks, Pixies, Danny Elfman... anything that leaves a strong emotional impression

Movies:

Annie Hall, M, Rodger Dodger, All About Eve, Fight Club, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Casablanca, American Psycho, Some Like it Hot, The Big Lebowski, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Apartment, The Lord of the Rings, Kicking and Screaming (NOT the Will Ferrell one), basically any maffia movie, The Great Muppet Caper, and... er... Zoolander

Television:

Arrested Development, Mr. Show, The Office (both versions), Friends (but don't ask me why)

Books:

The Time Traveler's Wife, The Historian, The Kite Runner, The Hobbit, The Gospel According to Biff (Christ's Childhood Pal), The Buddha Book, E, High Fidelity, the Harry Potter Series (yeah... so?), George R.R. Martin, Bret Easton Ellis, Christopher Moore, Kurt Vonnegut, Alexandre Dumas

Heroes:

Spider-Man, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, the Three Musketeers, the Count of Monte Cristo, and my Dad (yeah, I said it)... notice how most of my heroes are fictional?
