About Me

Roland Richards was born on the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean. At the age of 15, he started his musical career as a trumpeter touring with Arrow, the original artist behind the song “Hot, Hot, Hot”. Eventually becoming the arranger/director/stage manager for the Multinational Force Band that supported Arrow.Over the course of twelve years, they entertained crowds worldwide, playing alongside such greats as Third World, Inna Circle, Jimmy Cliff, Paul McCartney, Sting, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins. He later added his much loved keyboard and vocal talents to the number one Jersey shore Reggae band, Verdict, releasing two independent albums “Irie Irie Irie” and “Summertime”.Roland’s abilities as producer, arranger, keyboardist, programmer and engineer has led to his collaboration with many artists: Arrow, Kulcha Don, Terry Dexter, Lady Saw, Red Fox, Mobb Deep, Inspector Deck of WuTang. As well as remixes for “Crazy Praise” by Nancy Jackson and “Giddy Up” by Salt & Pepa. Some of his music has also been featured on soundtracks: “Choo Choo" on the television show Reckless Nights, “Clap Your Hands and Sing Dee Song” on Walt Disney’s The Little Mermaid and “Groove Master” from the hit film Casual Sex.Most recently, Roland wrote, sang and co-produced with Yves Larock, a number one hit single entitled “ Zookey (Lift Your Leg Up)" in 2005. The remix by Bob Sinclair for the compilation “Africanism” topped the charts worldwide and was nominated in the 2005 House Music Awards for Standout Track - WMC.Roland is currently doing some touring in Europe and trying to find time to work on his much anticipated ragga house album.
