Skonie Fam was founded in 1996 by Taz Skonie, Dre Skonie (A.K.A True-"G"), Tone Skonie,Shawn Skonie(A.K.A. FROG-"G"), Young Nutt, and Buck Skonie. Taz met Frog "G" in job core back in 95 battling it out wit every dude that called themselves a rapper and dominating the deck until they fianally battled each other. By them not being able to shut each other down and both coming from the Englewood area of Chicago they decided to link up and start creating songs together. The following year they linked up wit Tone through mutual gangstaz. They soon started traveling througout the Chi from the south-side to the west-side gettin in circles wit Vice Lords, Black Diciples, Blackstones,Black Souls,and other GD's freestlylin and written songs that put you in the mind of a cross mix of Bone-Thugs and Twista. Quickly gaining respect with a song called "Break it to tha right". Although the song had disrespectful jabs at rival gangs the lyrics were so serious even opposition organizations was in request for the song even though they might have broke it to the left. They moved around from hood to hood project to project eventually running into one of the original members of L.E.P. (Low End Pro's) Larro at a wake for one of the Gangsters in the Ickes projects. Where they started a circle and once again proved their lyrical presence. Later that year Dre Skonie was released from prison from a four year bid with six albums of material in hand the Fam was started Dre was from the Killa Ward area of Chicago so it was inevitable that he would soon record material with Hood legend Black A.G. Tone hailing from the south-east side Murda Town area already had a several rap mixtape series established (Trunk Knock Life, D.J. YoungGunz tha Block Burner, and Thug Diaries) so they took their campaign to the streets of the U.S. Tone and Dre traveled across the south from 98'-02' hitting every swap meet and trade show poppin off mixtapes. Tone was arressted in Raleigh, NC in 02 DJ Drama style charged with unlawful sale of sound recording which put everthing to a temporary halt for an entire year fighting what was thought as a meaningless case. Finally in 03 the case was dropped by the D.A. due to missing evidence (money) That the arresting officers had confiscated. Strapped with a new outlook on marketing and promotion they decided to work on exlusive material and just create a label (Skonie Fam Muzik) and grind from the bottom from the Chi to tha VIlle (Ca$hville,TN) collaborating with whoever wanted to work they soon had a small arsenal of material. Now hooked up with Chicago's newest publicist/promoter/C.E.O. of Big Gal Ent. Felita"Fee Fee" Rankins A.K.A. Big Gal soon to be one Chicago's most known unknown's.BG
