Vigar (pronounced Vijar) comes from the name of Vigilant which had been shortened by the new rhyming sensation after realising that others also shared his alias. His musical journey began in 1998 on the legendary "Supreme FM 96.1" which is the same pirate radio station where the likes of So Solid Crew and Neutrino made their names and debues. Being young at at that time mcing and hosting a regular radio show then was only seen to him as a hobby, a simple step forward from practising at home within the bedroom. A member at that time of the Dark Angels which blood family members Manajah and Weza were also part of. Older members JB & Manajah paved the way releasing the undergroung garage smash "Bite Flowz" then fellow Dark Angel Sharky released "Sharky Bass", a definate crowd pleaser. Being a young protege to his peers of that era he learnt what it took to be an artist aswell as a mc/host. Whilst a member of Dark Angels Vigar was soon enough introduced to the studio. Raring to go he recorded a verse on the underground favourite "Who's The Darkest Angel?" His 1st taste of the studio went untainted as the release went on to sell 3000 units. Eventually times changed...
After becoming a recognised voice and elite member of the Dark Angels the crew eventually broke up and parted with members going their seperate ways. After his departure he lost his drive to pursue a music career but then picked up where he left off with some childhood friends creating "Fireproof Entertainment". Rather then creating a crew Vigar plus a few senior members within within Fireproof embarked on mixing the business with our musical talents thus creatimg an independant record label. After generating much capital from selling mix cds Vigar and partners made the final transition turning the name into an official registered independant label...
That's where the ball truely got rolling, Vigar took part in the legendary reknowned street dvd "Lord Of The Mics II". Representing with neighbourhood friend Snakeyman and fellow label mate/partner in rhyme Diddy. He took on Al Blaze & Nekkle Camp members Knuckles & Gully Rainjah, going toe to toe lyrically within the rhyming battle thus defeating the opposing trio. After coming out victorious the next step was to release a single with a video to support and to match the exposure from Lord Of The Mics II. Diddy came up with the concept for "Clashing Kings" and soon after the track was recorded followed by the video shoot. Clashing Kings which features Snakeyman & Pestman re-created the experience at Lord Of The Mics. (FACT:- The video was even filmed within the same venue). The video not long after charted No.1 on Channel U for several weeks, remained within the top 20 for over 4 months and even made the MTV Base playlist. The rhyming pair Vigar & Diddy then went onto shoot their 2nd video entitled "Here We Go" which features the 2006 BBC 1xtra Best Newcomer Award Winner L.Man.
The streets anticipated an official mix cd release in which Vigar & Diddy went back into the lab to cook-up. Eventually the masterpiece was created, "The Dynamic Duo". A mix cd which caters for all music lovers covering mant genres otherwise than the typical grime element he is usually known for. The mix cd features the likes of Mike GLC, Flirta.D, Maxwell.D, Ruff Sqwad and many others. Due for a launch within a few weeks, Fireproof Entertainment the label became a fully functional working business. Appearing on BBC 1xtra with DJ Cameo on Pirate Sessions made his graft certified, displaying his sharp punch lines and metaphors he stamped his mark within the music industry.
You can catch Vigar plus other Fireproof artists on their regular radio slot on On Top FM 95.5 Saturday nights 10 till 12 displaying why he is one of South Londons front runners on the mic...One to definately look out for 2007...
