Electreccentric Simon Baring has been an avid consumer and part time producer of all kinds of music for many years, he developed his tastes as a child of the psychedelic trance & ambient movements of the late 90's, where he found the technological sophistication, inventive ideas and spiritual undertones intriguing and inviting. He started producing electronic music as a hobby in 2000, jotting down ideas and teaching himself the way of the sonic arts ( Listen here ). For many years, he stubbornly refused to learn to DJ, believing that the true artistic nature of music lay in Live performance.

Since 2003 his tastes became more progressive as his love affair with trance diminished as he grew tired of the formulaic, generic and predictable new material that was coming out. Craving something new, he delved into breaks, lounge, minimal, electro, techno, glitch, jazz, house and many more. In December 2006, he started his own event called Minimal Mayhem dedicated to these findings. Its been all go from there as he's been asked to perform this new blend of sexy psychedelic minimal electro progressive at over 50 events since then! Playing with the likes of Minilogue, Extrawelt, Dnox, Beckers, Monolake, System7, James Monro, Edoardo, Josko and many more. Most recently, the Glade Festival have deemed those findings worthy of being given a whole Saturday lineup to program in the Sancho Panza tent at the upcoming 2008 event.

His love of the groove also led him into promoting which got him picked up by Ans from Nano Records in 2003 who put him to work for Nano Records and the first two Glade Festivals until September 2005. During production of the Glade Festival 2005, he came into direct contact with Twisted Records and was hired to help in the official capacities of running the label. Alongside Ross March from Liquid Records , he supervised the organisation of the legendary Twisted Records 10th Birthday parties in March & October 2006 & Twisted LIVE in Concert in May 2007.

It was in March 2006 at that first Twisted party where he was first persuaded to spin some tunes in the chill out. He took to it like a duck to water with his energetic performance and top class selection quickly earning him a good reputation. In December 2006 he was signed to Twisted as an in house DJ by the label owner Simon Posford (Hallucinogen, Shpongle, Younger Brother). Since then he has played all over the UK and Ireland, France, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Portugal, USA, Costa Rica & Israel with many more up and coming. In 2007 he returned to the Glade Festival as a warm up DJ for the Younger Brother Live band on the Main Stage for sunday afternoon.

He still keeps a keen eye on the trance scene and picks up new material that passes his intense scrutiny so he is still available to play trance sets. He only plays the stuff that really gets him going, largely from Twisted Records with a few gems from the likes of Nano, Alchemy, Iboga, Digital Structures, Neurobiotic & Dragonfly thrown in. He also loves playing downtempo psychedelic sets from the likes of the Twisted back catalogue and has access to all the unreleased bits and remixes not to mention his expansive CD collection. However his true calling is now in the world of Minimal Mayhem. He plays everything and anything that will mix together. Bits of techno, electro, tech house, minimal, and progressive. A non conformist, he likes to keep the dancefloor guessing. Floating between the genres he keeps it deep, driving, sexy and psychedelic. His set is symbolic of what Minimal Mayhem is all about.
