Gaia's Vestige is a melodic death/black metal band from Vicenza, Italy.
The band was born in Winter 2000 from the ashes of a symphonic metal band known as Ainur. The project started from the contribution of a new singer (Gabriele Buogo Andreella, who played the synths in a band called Walpurgis Night) and a new keyboarder (Giacomo Mazzaron). This solution, that renewed and changed the musical directions of the band, made possible to take a space in the local metal-underground, mainly because of the musical originality, even though the references to In Flames, Opeth, and first Dark Tranquillity were clear.
In winter 2001 the first single, "Winter is the Law", was released, and it obtained a lot of good reviews; unfortunately the band couldn't play live concerts in the whole 2002 because of some line-up problems. Recently a new guitarist (Alessandro Carraro) and a new bassist (Alessio Favarin) has joined Gaia's Vestige, while the old keyboarder Giacomo and the drummer Enrico Lucatello have left the band.
The musical direction is now changing, and the new songs will be faster and more avantgarde-extreme. The new full lenght, "Sekai No Ato (La Traccia del Mondo)", was recorded in Winter 2005.
