Bio:
Here’s some of the standard bio: She was raised in Jacksonville, Florida but now Jen Elliott calls New York City her home. In 2003, she had the opportunity to sign with up-and-coming indie record label City Canyons Records. A few short months later, they released her debut album THE SECRET’S OUT.
Since then, Jen’s album has received Top 30 college radio airplay and critical acclaim by the press nationwide. Jen has been featured in issues of Entertainment Today, The Sun Herald, Inside Connection and Keyboard Magazine. To date, the band has performed at the Black Potatoe Festival 2005, NY Auto Show 2005, GoGirls Elite Showcase 2004, headlined at the Global Entertainment & Media Summits 2003/2004, and performed at MEANY Fest 2003...as well as performing at top venues in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Jen & Bluestruck have also opened for the likes of Nils Lofgren, The Little River Band, and Nine Days.
...and here’s the rest: I never expected to be consumed by music. I thought I’d end up being normal and practical. Really. I went to school for Geology. What can I say? I still like rocks.
The Amazing Anne Husick and I also work on a separate acoustic project together. We generally wreak havoc wherever we can. Recently, we were featured in the Downtown Express for our residency at The Gatehouse. We’ve also been invited to play at the GoGirls Elite Showcase 2005, Songwriter’s Hall of Fame New Writer’s Showcase 2004, and Earth Day NY 2004.
What did I forget? Oh. When I perform, I exclusively drink Jameson...and I can sing all 50 states in alphabetical order.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: jenelliott.com
Band Members: Jen Elliott & Bluestruck: Jen Elliott, Anne Husick, David Patterson, Dawn McGrath

Jen & Anne Acoustic: Jen Elliott, Anne Husick

Influences: Bob Dylan, The White Stripes, The Rolling Stones, Muse (especially the new album--I can't turn it off), Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Beck (genius), Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Elvis Presley--The Sun Sessions, Iggy Pop, Leonard Cohen, Sly and The Family Stone, Tracy Chapman, Chrissie Hynde, Johnny Cash, Joan Osbourne, Wolfmother, Gov't Mule, Anne Husick, and various traditional gospel hymns...
Sounds Like: "Picture Chrissie Hynde fronting a more rootsy version of The Pretenders".

"Fusing the sensibilities of the Rolling Stones with the Ronettes, she and her band manage to be tougher and sexier than either. Nor is the sound really retro. Great rock is timeless, and Jen Elliott makes great rock." --Hank Bordowitz of Bordowitz Media Werx on Jen's live performance at the Global Entertainment and Media Summit
