Award-winning singer/songwriter and guitarist/producer MOLLY BANCROFT has tasted quite a bit in her life so far as a musician. Starting out as a small town Michigan jazz sax player, she later moved to Boston and tested her mojo on the singer/songwriter scene, playing with many up and coming folkies at the time, until she heard Kitchens of Distinction at TT and the Bears, was blown away by the sheer thrust of guitars and force of drums - and left the solo folk world behind to form her own rock band. Molly, over many years of trial and error - developed a unique sensibility and taste for pop music that expressed the "edges" of mainstream culture. Influenced early on by Depeche Mode and Kate Bush, Molly's ears soon were drawn to Nirvana and obscure British shoegazer bands, and eventually her own music began to reflect those influences. Over her career in music thus far, Molly has been acclaimed both in her solo efforts ("Get Closer" (2003) and "Red Dirt Diaries" (2006 EP), and also with her band LIFT that started it all back in 1995 with three acclaimed CDs and tours opening for the Indigo Girls.

Recently, a collaboration with DJs Gabriel and Dresden on a 1 Billboard hit single "tracking treasure down" and other songs on their 2007 artist album has led to Molly's voice and catchy songwriting chops being noticed worldwide. Finding these DJs was a fluke of pure inspiration, as are most of Molly's musical connections. Her ears and soul embody some kind of need for human connection through music - yet her sensibilities are pure pop. The songs that come from such collaborations are truly magical gems that find their way into the marketplace due to talents of others, but originate in a strong desire to touch people through music that reaches the masses.

SPLENDID EZINE REVIEW
MOLLY BANCROFT Get Closer (ReyBan) * * * *
GET CLOSER -- CD review: Molly Bancroft's name has been linked to a constellation of female pop stars. There's Sarah McLachlan, the sensitive remix princess, and Suzanne Vega, master of erratic pleasantness. There's also the very indie Beth Orton and her calculated mix of style and soul. All of these touchpoints make good selling points for Bancroft, but dropping their names is no more accurate than comparing her to George Michael. Such comparisons only tell you that Bancroft's voice is high, thin and girly, but also flexible; she can hit lower-octave notes like Michael and the other girls, and she can wrap her tongue around one word in 10,000 different ways. As with every talented artist, though, Bancroft has no single talent that's precisely the same as someone else's. She carves each syllable and note into a sound all her own. Her voice is a genuine gift that would get high marks on any Star Search program, and she takes it to another level....
Get Closer, and she knows that you will. Her music is love with a healthy heartbeat. -- Theodore Defosse

FROM BBC.CO.UK Gabriel and Dresden "Tracking Treasure Down" featuring Molly BancroftBuilt upon a foundation of contemporary studio gadgets, trusty Moog and Roland synths and a brace of vocalists, Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden have, in the main, created a high-octane opus of electronica. A blend of vintage guitars, electric bass and tech-etched beats drives the majority of the project with "Sydney", a throbbing instrumental, and the ethereal Molly Bancroft-sung "Tracking Treasure Down", two of the best.Owing much to the styling of Sarah McLachlan, Atlanta-based Bancroft appears on a quartet of tracks, including the first single, "Tracking Treasure Down". ...With a number of high profile awards already to their name, and having just remixed the Oscar winning theme song from Brokeback Mountain, G&D could soon find themselves the haut couture of club culture.Lewis Dene (2007-06-21)

from BEATFACTOR.COMAfter a first audition at this year’s Winter Music Conference, the debut album of Josh Gabriel & Dave Dresden is released on their own record label, Organized Nature. After one year, the San Francisco based duo can blow their bags about a bonny material This one includes 12 tracks, 8 of them being composed alongside two vocalists, Atlanta based Molly Bancroft and London based Jan Burton....As mentioned above, the album has 12 productions including progressive and prog trance, in a large measure vocal sexy house with dance tools. The first track pointed out is Let Go alongside the vocalist Molly Bancroft, track consisting in a melodic progressive which sends forth a lot of positive nut a bit nostalgic atmosphere, filled up with melodic lines and a G & D stamp rhythm.
