The former leader of Atlanta's popular alt-rock band LIFT's 2nd solo effort harkens back to her earlier days as a solo singer/songwriter, only this time, she brings her skilled group of friends into a cozy studio in Athens, GA to make beautiful music that is timeless. After years of touring with groups like the Indigo Girls, and performing venues all over the USA, Molly strikes gold with this simple approach to solid songwriting and warm, inviting arrangements that focus on her skills as a producer as well.
Simone Simonton, drummer of South 70 and of course, former Lift drummer, brings her exquisite touch to these songs, as does Emily Boyd, who added lyrical gifts.
The songs on "Red Dirt Diaries" evoke emotions of detachment, questioning truths, love, and warmth. In the making of this CD - which provided an unexpected resting place away from her well-known explorations of popular dance music. Available as digital downloads on Itunes only.

QUITE A CHAMELEON: Molly Bancroft
With the smoky, emotive voice of Chrissy Hynde and an acoustic folk-rock foundation, Georgia-based singer/songwriter Molly Bancroft weaves dramatic pop songs about heartbreak and loneliness out of glossy arrangements and dusty, road-trip-ready melodies. Bancroft is quite the pop chameleon, exploring the occasional electro flourishes (as on sunny pop gem “The Break”), earthy, Melissa Etheridge-like rockers (like “Forgotten Angel” or “Underneath ”) and the sort of sweetly girlish pop that wouldn’t sound out of place on, say, an iPod commercial. Regardless of which side of Bancroft’s many musical personalities any specific song is spotlighting, you are guaranteed to get a track that roils with excitement, oozes with emotion and soars with accessible melody.
