About Me

Producer / Songwriter / Mixer
I have a top secret underground studio called The Zone hidden in an unassuming suburb north of Atlanta. I have been producing and mixing records for many years...back before MIDI, before PODs, before digital ANYTHING we were cutting tape, playing songs all the way through with no click track.
I’ve produced, written, mixed, and played on major label records in several genres...from Rock, Rap, and Pop, to just plain weird. I took a chance on hip-hop years ago when a lot of people thought I was crazy and it ended up leading to some of the most successful years of my career; but rock music has, and always will be, where my heart is. Luckily there’s a new wave of bands coming through now that I’m really excited about.
I just started working with a new group, Vistoso Bosses , who just signed to Collipark Music. They’re a pretty awesome female singing and rapping duo.
I just finished an album with SRC/Universal artist, Heavy Mojo, one of the worlds greatest live bands! The album came out great, I think it’s being released this spring.
I’m now continuing work on Al Kapone’s album. Had to take some time off from it, but now we’re back on it. It’s coming together really well, there’s an all-star cast of musicians playing on this record including members of the Dave Matthews band and the North Mississippi All-stars just to name a couple.
Check out this article in Mix Magazine about me and Al working on the album.

I have a love and passion for what I do. Most of my friends are producers, engineers, mixers and musicians. We are constantly sharing ideas, info on new gear, recording techniques and music software. Here are some links that you my find useful:

Don’t Crack A great source for all sorts of music and audio software. I’ve found a good selection of free plugins here.

Massey Plugins I’ve got to credit Avery Johnson (producer, musician, studio owner) for this one. These are some of the best plug-ins I’ve ever used. Very affordable as well.

gearslutz.com Ever need to know what other engineers, producers and mixers are up to? Get an opinion on a gear purchase? Or just shoot the shit? This is a forum with subjects ranging from mastering to studio design to production techniques.

Digidesign Users Forum Better than reading the manual.

Hand Signals Ok... this has nothing to do with music, but last time Dan Hannon and I were on a secret mission we really needed this.

The Whipping Post Lots of information and tutorials for computer based music creation.

The Lefsetz Letter Wanna know what’s going on in the music business? Click this link, subscribe to his letter, and read Bob’s rants about this screwy business. Yes, he goes on a bit about his sking trips, but I’ve gotten a lot of good info from reading this.

Copyright Info and Forms Always someone asking about where to find this.

Sounds Like: Nothing I do sounds the same from band to band. In other words, I don't have a 'sound' - except for sounding good that is.
