The Daily Chorus started by accident. It has grown from a small blog in January 2007 to
over 2,400 unique daily visitors in January 2008.
What was the reason for the fast climb? There are many factors but the single most important aspect is
our knack for finding the next generation of bands and our close relationship with major labels, indie labels, bands, the music industry and, most importantly, the visitors to the site.
The
most popular aspect of our site is our quarterly release of our
Top Unsigned list. The first release came out in March ’07 and we’ve had bands signed to
Atlantic, Epic, Universal Motown, Solid State, Fearless, OneEleven and many more. The bands we select from the list come from all genres, including pop, rock, hip-hop, hardcore and punk.
Our staff is unlike most other webzines.
Most of our staff has worked in the music industry. Some are interns at major or indie labels. We are on the phone with industry personnel about the bands on our site, almost daily.
Also, some of the
top music attorneys and producers have contacted us in reference to the bands on our site.
To the left, you can see bands that we have worked with and/or actively supported/promoted when they were unsigned.
Some of
TDCs "new music" accomplishments include:
-
Sounds Under Radio became
TDCs first number 1 band in January 2007. Since then,
SUR have taken part in two Hollywood movies, including
Spiderman 3, and got signed to
Epic Records.
-
The Maine was on our
Top Unsigned list in January 2007. Since then, they have been signed to
Fearless Records and hit the
Billboard HeatSeeker chart.
-
Forever The Sickest Kids was on our
Top Unsigned list in Janurary 2007 before playing a single show. Eventually, they signed to
Universal Motown.
-
All Time Low became the site’s first featured signed band in March 2007. Since then, the band has had two videos on
MTV’s TRL and sold over 100,000 copies of their two releases.
-
MyChildren MyBride entered our
Top Unsigned list on March 2007. Since then, they signed to
Solid State and entered the
Billboard HeatSeeker chart.
-
TDC cleared
88,000 visitors for the month of March 2008, which was a total of over 2,840 unique daily visitors. All of that after only 12 months of existence.
We also started a unique idea bringing bands an affordable
Health Plan for
up to 15 members/crew. The founder of
TDC has toured for over 2 years without medical coverage and paid the price.
We are constantly trying to figure out ways to better promote unsigned and up-and-coming indie bands. Please send us ideas and bands at
[email protected]We never ask for money from bands (unless it’s for banner ads) nor can you pay to be featured on the site. We try to remain as
unbiased as we possible can. But you can support the site by
adding one of our banners (found below) and/or posting, blogging and talking about
The Daily Chorus .
