It might be hard to believe that BRAVE CITIZENS’ goliath-sounding debut EP Revolutions started as a laptop recording project that utilized closets and garages to record and share ideas between Los Angeles and San Francisco. But for vocalist Andrew Capra and guitarist Adam Bialik, it’s all that was needed to inspire the musical revolution that introduced BRAVE CITIZENS to the world.
By melding ethereal vintage with modern flair, Revolutions is truly a rock album at its core. But what lies within—bold grandeur, big ambience, and melody-soaked pop power—is the display of BRAVE CITIZENS’ ability to transcend a simple genre tag or style affiliation and root each listener in its complete emotionality.
When the final mixes of Revolutions hit the internet in late 2007, the resounding response fueled BRAVE CITIZENS to hit the ground running. Capra and Bialik—along with road veterans Jarred Dooley (bass) and Alex Jones (drums)—were demanded to bring their live experience to the masses while the band’s buzz quickly spread throughout the music press and blogosphere.
BRAVE CITIZENS launched their maiden tour voyage in early 2008, quickly racking up thousands of touring miles throughout the west coast. The band was tapped to co-headline “The Daily Chorus†Tour in March while skyrocketing to 7 on the influential site’s “Top Unsigned†bands list, along with front-page features at Purevolume.com, Absolutepunk.net, and SomethingPunk.com among others. The band was then named “Unsigned Band Of The Month†by Alternative Press Magazine in May and was handpicked to play a string of dates on the 2008 Vans Warped Tour.
In the midst of non-stop touring and the continued success of Revolutions’ digital release, BRAVE CITIZENS set October 7 for the physical release of the album—a Deluxe Edition that features two bonus tracks not on the original digital-only version. More acclaim poured in for the band to advance the release of the Deluxe Edition including KROQ in Los Angeles spinning the first single “All Or Not,†song placements confirmed on network television and artist features at both Myspace and AOL Music.
And this is just the beginning. To support the new Deluxe Edition release, BRAVE CITIZENS have confirmed more live dates throughout the fall and into 2009 where the band will embark on a nationwide tour, all while assembling the pieces for their debut full-length release.
World, meet Brave Citizens.
