AMP was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida (a.k.a Duval, Jacktown). As a youth he developed his love for Hip-Hop and sharpened his lyrical blade on "Big Mamma's Porch". This is the name AMP gives the area on the Northwest side of Jacksonville where he, his cousins, and other neighborhood youth would square off and battle rap in the street outside of his Big momma's house. Later AMP debuted in the underground 3 man group Dangerous Mindz (now Cuz N Dem) in 1997. After the group won multiple talent shows and opened for many artists (LOX, 8-Ball, Lil John, Montel Jordan etc.). AMP was trademarked by his descriptive wordplay and intense delivery that painted a perfect illustration of the hoods of the South. Jacksonville is emerging as one of the hidden jewels of hip-hop and quickly being labeled as the "Harlem of the South".Amp has had a unique background which is evident in his music. Growing up the son of a traditional Southern Baptist Pastor yet having family ties and being exposed first hand to Drugs, Bank robbers, Pimps, Hustlers and Murderers. AMP has been exposed to both ends of the spectrum. He often refers to the recording booth as his psychiatric therapist. However, he is able to charismatically balance his spiritual foundation, while feeding the streets with the wisdom of the ages.Amp is the voice of the blue collar, common folk who brings you real life, through real music. This perfect blend of lyrical genius, clever punch lines, thought provoking statements and a dynamic delivery puts AMP in a league of his own. Through his muzik he will feed the streets and add a new dimension to Hip-Hop. AMP is destined to be Harriet Tubman of rap and lead his city into the hip hop promise land.Amp has recently signed a independent record deal with New Way Records based in Los Angelas, CA and secured an independent distribution deal with ADA/Warner Music Group . With a few mix-tapes bubbling to release and a debut album schedule for Q1 of 2008, the sky is the limit for A. M. P.
