About Me
D.Williams a.k.a D.willz was born and raised on the west side of London ,and brought up by his mother, who used to be a backing vocalist for studio one artistes, which lead D into music, melodies and lyrics from an age of nine. D used to sit in the rehersal sessions which took part in his front room every Monday and Wednesday, watching listening and enjoying music in the raw. At the time D lived behind the Hammersmith Apollo which was renowned for its massive concerts. D used to wait near the backstage entrance gate to spot any famous faces, one day a group called Fat back band where in concert I found loving was a big club anthem at the time and they where on European tour! The night of the show D was loitering around outside the Apollo and a security guard that always sees D asked him if he wanted to see the live show! The security said that he had a pass for a friend but his friend could no longer make it! So before he knew it Dwillz was given a access all areas pass and ushered to the auditorium. After the concert D hadnt realised how he was so lucky to of experienced live music at its best .In 1982 because of family problems D was taken to New York to stay for 2 weeks, that 2 weeks became 2 and a half months! During that period D stayed at his aunties home in Bed-sty Brooklyn. D was exposed to hip-hop.. the whole culture graphitti ,breaking, popping rapping was on every street corner and blaring from all speakers! Just as D started to get comfy it was time to go home
when D got back to London he met up with his older brother and every week D would speech his big brother to take him raving with him! D was now an addict to music not any music all music! D would be the youngest person in the party raving to rival, rare groove, soul, break beats and P funk!. When D finally left secondary school he came to realise that music was a part of his everyday life, first he found a part time job in Sainsburys stacking shelves, then he found a job as a messenger delivering photographic ..s all over London. Whilst working for pocket money, D came across his old friend rap music . D started tagging and attempting graphitti pieces on the London streets, which lead to him being arrested in school uniform at warick avenue train station by transport police for scribbling a tag on the station notice board! He got a caution, but that lesson was not enough for young D. At the age of 16 D left school with average grades and got a job as a courier. Every weekend D and friends Hudson(PESCI),Mc D,Bunny bread,Jonny(J1 da ace)Rage,Max(Cane)and Foam. would go raving Brixton fridge, Tudor rose, Dingwalls and the winch in Swiss cottage. London posse, London rhyme syndicate, she rockers, cookie crew, MC.Duke and Monie love was running the rap scene. D only got involved in the dancing side of it. He and his friends would watch MTV base for all the latest dance moves then hit the club and take over the Dance floor. After a while D and his Hudson(Pesci) started getting respect from the dancing and had crowds in clubs watching routines made up by D and his friends. D and his dance crew started supporting groups at shows then supported KRS 1 at the forum Kentish town. After the performance the crew(Dance Connection) was asked to be in a music video which had already been turned down by the cookie crews dancers Funky dope manoeuvres, the chance was snapped up and before anyone knew it D and his main crew partner Hudson was all over the TV! The tune had gone number 1 in 12 countries and had D and his boy touring the world! " I got the power" by snap was the track and it heightened the profiles of D and his friends on the west side of town. After touring and involvement in other projects D became a rapper. D done choreography for the rap outfit 2xdef and received a 16 bar verse from MC D for the help. Two years later D found himself rapping along side MC D and Howie in the original silent eclipse. After numerous show and successful studio sessions the group was offered a recording contract, unfortunately the group separated a couple of day after and MC D went his own way and signed with Island records. That left D in no mans land! Homeless, broke, and disappointed. D got into a long term relationship and forgot about rapping and making music until he met Scratch professor (Dmc award winner) and started a fresh group called Anonymous . Ticking time records a small independent picked up on some of the tracks they heard by D and his friend and released four of the tracks onto vinyl absorb the dialogue ,straight from the mozey, tell me why and my crew get paid which all received loads of airplay but not enough to generate a record deal. Luckily there was a publishing company interested Mute song ,they signed the project and the group recorded an album. Toward the end of the album the producer scratch professer had to go on tour to play keyboards for Daimon Marley, he was unable to return for 14 months, by then the project was at a dead end and some of the work was unfortunatley dated. D went on and signed a second option and received music equipment as part of the deal. D had no idea of how to make music but his ear knew what was and what not was musically correct, so all D had to do was teach himself to make beats. After a while D started understanding the equipment and understanding what he was trying to do. Five years later and D is recording tracks like nothing and getting crazy feedback from his work. In 2005 D willz went back to New York but this time the Bronx! Hed been sending mp3 files over to a production company who wanted D to join the team, and eventually met up and vibed . While on his travel he met Foxy brown, J. r writer and Hell rell
Who all showed love to the u.k and his music. This gave D the insight he needed, and with that said everybody know Dwillz is the hottest up and coming producer on the block! And now its just a matter of time before the world knows.
