Scratch Professer

About Me

Grammy Award winner Scratch Professer is an established self taught DJ, Producer, Rapper and Musician. Not content with being the brother of UK Soul sensation Omar, Scratch is a two time DMC Championship runner up. Scratch Professer was brought up in a musical household, fed on a musical diet of reggae, Lover's Rock, Soul and of course Hip Hop. His musical talents shone through at an early age and at the tender age of 4 he began to play the keyboards and by the age of 6 he was in his own reggae group called 'Burning Bush'. At the age of 12, Scratch Professer won his first pair of Technics SL 1200's courtesy of Dave Pearce and Steve Walsh who were then DJ's for Radio London. In 1988 a 13 year old Scratch Professer entered the DMC Championships' and came 3rd in the UK finals he repeated that same success the following year. His slick ability earned him the name 'Scratch Professer'. By the 90's Scratch Professer was supporting the likes of Naughty by Nature, Pete Rock and CL Smooth and The Infamous Mobb Deep. Touring the country with his brother Omar and opening up all across the USA for Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers with the Marley's group 'Ghetto Youth International' in which he played keys and rapped. Scratch Professer also toured and played keys for French ragga artist Daddy Mory, Lord Kossity and Nuttea. By 2002 Scratch Professer was on the move again. DJing for the likes of All Saints, Ms Dynamite and the Appletons, appearing on Jules Holland, Top of the pops, CD UK, T4 and the Brit Awards. It was natural progression for Scratch Professer from DJ to Producer, armed with the talentof playing keys, guitar, drums, rapping, singing sound engineering and an extensive knowledge of music technology Scratch Professer began to work his magic. Co-Producing with Marley's on Crazy Bones 'Revolution' album, Scratch Professer also worked on the Bob Marley album 'Chant Down Babylon' playing keys on 7 tracks and scratching on the track 'Concrete Jungle' featuring Rakim. Scratch Professer continued to work with the Marley's on Julian Marley's album 'A time and Place' playing keys on seven tracks and Co Producing one track with Jullian. Scratch Professer then went on to Co Produce 2 tracks on Damian Marley's second album 'Half Way Tree'still searching & stuck in between & played keyboards on 7 tracks & sang backing vocals on born to be wild, this effort earned Scratch Professer a Grammy. With Scratch Professers mixing and scratching ability and a greater knowledge of music technology his production is tight, he manipulatesbeats and samples and makes them his own, that's why the likes of the Marley's call on him for his production services, that's why Scratch Professer is now an acclaimed Grammy Award winner. Scratch Professer has worked alongside his brother Omar on his 6th Album 'Sing If You Want It' and Scratch Professer Co Produced 3 tracks including the title track of the Album, Co Produced 'All For Me' featuring Angie Stone, Co Produced 'Lay It Down' featuring Estelle, Scratch Professer also rapped on the track 'Kiss It Right' playing keys on the track and guitar on others on the Album.Scratch has also been working with an Mc from NYC called Kenny Baraka for 6 years.
