About Me

Artist, singer-songwriter, musician, producer, artworker & dance-man Dan Viktor, born 18.11.77, grew up on a sheep-farm far out on the lonesome praire of agricultural mid-sweden. He was no good as a farmerboy, but he had a vivid imagination and really good sense of balance along with a seldomly stubborn mind and no self-critics what so ever. At age 13, he came across a guitar and got himself badly in love with singing, playing and writing songs, and not least performing live which is his right element. He calls his shows blink-of-an-eye-art, and he's been rewarded more than once for his work on stage as one of the best of his generation. Dan Viktor has been described as a blend of a handsome Quasimodo, a happy Bob Dylan, an intoxicated Fred Astarie and a very lost and confused Django Reinhardt in one single person, singing his own songs in swedish, and playing fiercly around the country at all times when he's not in his studio Nacksving in Gothenburg writing or producing new albums. Dan Viktor has recorded five albums with his songs, and collaborated with the free theatrical-musical group "Idiotteatern" (Theater Of Fools) on one more album presenting a cover-repertoire with new arrangements of traditional swedish music like Allan Edwall and Dan Andersson. Dan Viktor has also a history of playing harmonica, guitar and vocals on albums of serveral collegues, and he's been working as a recordproducer for a number of albums as well. The new Dan Viktor album "Dan Andersson sjunger Dan Andersson" (Dan Andersson sings Dan Andersson) is released in co-operation with record company Popmate Music and is the artists greatest success, with a flow of fantastic reviews, public response and copies sold & downloaded!

Sounds Like: A subtle mix between Cornelis Vreeswijk and Thore Skoghman on downers, singing in a long forgotten, rural swedish dialect, 17:th century french bards, and himself just doing his thang. His thang sounds like cats and dogs, meowing and barking, the rooster on top of the dungheep and swings like the thunder and rain of the northern archipelago. Dan Viktor's mostly about plain rough-swinging blues and pop tunes with a highly energetic and desperate feeling, to go along with strange and sometimes dark, humoristic lyrics, revealing everything from theorys on extraordinary human decay and confused prophetic tales to the usual real life struggle of sexual love between men, women and beasts, added with fearful conclusions on the matter of being alive in general. Musically quite free in genré, but somewhere in the folk rock n' roll badlands with influences from blues, cajun, jazz, hard rock and swedish and anglosaxian folklore.
