About Me

Jon Maharaj is a freelance bass player from Toronto, Canada. He has appeared on dozens of albums ranging from orchestral music, to R&B, to modern jazz. He currently plays with or has played with The Harley Card Quartet, The William Carn Quintet, Dione Taylor, Rez Abassi, Christian Scott, Matt Stevens, Aaron Parks, Mike Murley, Reg Schwager, Clara Godfrey, and many others. He has studied with Pat Collins, Jim Vivian, Drew Gress, Scott Colley, Ben Street, Matt Brewer, and many others. He's toured Canada. In his own mind, he's actually pretty burning most of the time. He has a thing for dogs and certain cats.

James Jamerson

Wow, Jamerson's really killing. The bassline on reach out (I'll be there) is over the top, as is the shit he plays on "What's going on". Then again, I guess everybody already knows that.
