I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

Welcome! You are (hopefully) listening to two time Swedish Grammy nominee Nils Erikson's new single Moving In, for which I provided the lyrics. His latest album On The Verge was released in 2007 – check it out (and I'm not only saying that because I wrote three lyrics on the album, it really IS great)... So who am I? I'm Anders, a Stockholm based music and movie journalist who also writes lyrics and songs. I'm happily divorced and have a wonderful son (b. 1995).
Life as a freelance journalist is financially insecure, the upside being that it's also pretty free, and that's how I like it - I like to travel. And I usually try to do some co-writes while being abroad.
We also have a band called CLUES together and we're currently looking for an album deal. For this project, both music and lyrics are a bit darker and more progressive. So far, our songs have been compared to those of David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Tom Waits, David Sylvian, and Kevin Gilbert. Feel free to visit CLUES at www.myspace.com/cluestheband and hear what we sound like...
I also have a duo with vocalist Susan Myrdal. We met in Umeå in northern Sweden but have since then (separately) moved to Stockholm. We call ourselves EVEN ADAM and have started co-writing and demoing our debut album, for which we will use several different producers.
Among the artists who have released songs I have written, or-co-written, are NILS ERIKSON, SJUNDE SINNET, (RANDY PIPER'S) ANIMAL, CHRIS LANEY, EVAN, KARL MARTINDAHL, THE WALLSTONES, DANIELA and DARK ILLUSION.
I consider myself a lyricist/songwriter more than a "proper" musician and I'm always on the hunt for new co-writing partners (hint). Apart from pen and paper, I write on an old nylon-string guitar that I've had for 28 years now. I can hardly pass it without picking it up. I also cherish my Rickenbacker bass 4001 ('78). I bought it in a pawn shop in Toronto. hoping that it once used to belong to Geddy Lee ...

My Interests

Music, interesting people, movies, food, drink and a good conversation, travel, books (novels, biographies, graphic novels, comic books), creativity in general, listening to records late into the night after a few too many drinks. Favourite cities: Stockholm, New York and Amsterdam. I have no interest in sports whatsoever. ......

I'd like to meet:

Friends, co-writers and - if possible - a female soul mate for further investigation. (I know she's out there!)

Music:

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER: The Beatles (+solo), David Bowie, early/mid-period Genesis (+Gabriel solo), Kevin Gilbert, Camel, Jan Johansson, Kate Bush, Sigur Ros, Todd Rundgren, Neil Young, Cornelis Vreeswijk, The Beach Boys, Jellyfish, Midlake, The Pixies, Prince, XTC, The Band, AC/DC, Prefab Sprout, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, The Church/Marty Willson-Piper, Ray Charles, Antony And The Johnsons, Steely Dan, Monica Zetterlund, Roger Rönning, Rickie Lee Jones, Gil Scott-Heron, Bruce Springsteen, Nils Erikson, Stefan Sundström, Astor Piazzolla, My Morning Jacket, Teitur, The Essex Green, The Feeling, Pink Floyd, ELO, Flaming Lips, Norrland, Ian Hunter, Kiss (make-up era!), Paul Simon, David Sylvian/Rain Tree Crow/Nine Horses, Toy Matinee, The Cardigans, The Who, The Blue Nile, Nick Lowe, Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith Group, Marvin Gaye, Robbie Robertson, Foo Fighters, Supertramp/Hodgson, Faris Nourallah, Big Star, Lost Van Goghs, Talk Talk, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Nick Drake, Faces/Ronnie Lane, Jonatha Brooke, ABBA, Rush, Jeff Buckley, Sofia Karlsson, Belle & Sebastian, OutKast, EST, Tom Waits, The Secret Machines, Rainbow, Sufjan Stevens, Ilse DeLange, Di Leva, Brett Bixby, Consequences, Groupa, Under The Influence Of Giants, Tomas Anderson Wij, Steven Lindsay, Jane Siberry, Radiohead, Povel Ramel, Joni Mitchell, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Randy Newman, 10cc, U2, Lisa Dalbello, Rupert Hine, Roger Karlsson, Brazilian Girls, Supergrass, Stevie Wonder, Chic, Noctorum, Freddie Wadling, Pernilla Andersson, Brian Eno, Curtis Mayfield, Harry Nilsson, Yes, Iggy Pop/Stooges, Robert Plant, Porcupine Tree, Lisa Lindal, The Flower Kings, Peter Björn & John, Jon Brion, Air, Opeth, Al Green, Tom Petty, Can, Townes Van Zandt, Jimmy Webb, Hellacopters, Anders F Rönnblom, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, John Hiatt, Bacharach/David, Thin Lizzy, Animal, Zan Clan, Sam Cooke, Staffan Hellstrand, Earth Wind and Fire, Wendy McNeil and Björn Skifs (my childhood idol as a singer, certainly not for his movies...).I have also written a blog of additional favourites. A "director's cut", if you like. So, for those not faint of heart - please see the EXTENDED version...

Movies:

IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER Alien (Ridley Scott) Almost Famous (Cameron Crowe) Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola) Babel (Alejandro González Iñárritu) Blade Runner (Ridley Scott) Clerks (Kevin Smith) Crash (Paul Haggis) Cyrano de Bergerac (Jean-Paul Rappeneau) Das Boot (Wolfgang Petersen) Elizabethtown (Cameron Crowe) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Michel Gondry) Fanny & Alexander (Ingmar Bergman) Hedwig And The Angry Inch (John Cameron Mitchell) Lantana (Ray Lawrence] Lost In Translation (Sofia Coppola) Magnolia (Paul Thomas Anderson) Match Point (Woody Allen) Midnight Cowboy (John Schlesinger) My Life as a Dog (Lasse Hallstrom) Solaris (Andrej Tarjovskij) Taxi Driver (Martin Scorsese) The Thin Red Line (Terrence Malick) This Is Spinal Tap (Rob Reiner) Traffic (Steven Soderbergh) Transamerica (Duncan Tucker) What's Eating Gilbert Grape (Lasse Hallstrom)

Television:

Any documentary catches my eye. I choose to have only three TV channels, the others (dating shows, docu soaps etc) almost make me lose my faith in humanity the same way Swedish evening papers do.

Books:

Mostly biographies, autobiographies, novels and comic books, graphic novels and magazines. I wrote quite a few favorites here, but I did something wrong and they just disappeared. I'll be back with another batch soonish... Until then, I would like to recommend Paul Auster's New York trilogy and Joe Jackson's awesome autobiography A Cure For Gravity. I wish I was able to just sit down and read more, but I've become increasingly restless over the years. I am highly amused (and slightly disturbed) by cartoons by people like Nina Hemmingsson, Berglin, Ulf Lundkvist, Martin Kellerman and Lena Ackebo.

Heroes:

Mom & dad, my son, Hasse & Tage, Cameron Crowe, decent people in general. I admire people who maintain the balance act between work/personal aspirations, family, and being a good friend.
