About Me

Hello! I'm a professional songwriter in New York and an enthusiastic collaborator who's had a bunch of Billboard hits since 1985, a few songs in movies and on TV, etc. Although I play guitar and sing, I'm strongest at lyrics, and work best with great players, producers and artists in a variety of styles. As long as it sticks in my head and has some substance, I can usually roll with the style. I also teach songwriting courses in the Steinhardt School at NYU and at Gotham Writers' Workshop, and coach songwriters privately via my website, CreativeSongwriter.com. The next things I have happening are 2 songs with a new rock/pop band called Push Play (MySpace.com/pushplayrox). Their album comes out in late 2009 — or so they tell me. Plus a single with Safire, "Exotique," one with Dee Robert called "Disappear," and several tunes with a young singer from a soon-to-be-launched TV show... I seem to be working long-distance with a lot of Swedish producers for some reason. Had a song in the Denzel Washington flick Déjà Vu a couple years back — that was exciting. Artists, producers and writers I've worked with include Hayley Westenra (New Zealand classical/pop superstar), Taylor Dayne (2 Pop, 3 AC, 6 Dance song, "Don't Rush Me,"), Alisha (Dance classic "Too Turned On,"), Martha Wash, Rockelle (Dance/Pop hit, "In A Dream,") Joey Lawrence (Teen heartthrob's Top 20 hit, "Nothin' My Love Can't Fix"), Marie Frank (Top 5 single "Big Love" on gold album in Denmark), Tony Visconti (rock producer of Bowie, T. Rex, etc.), Charlie Superfly, Maria Christensen, Hiram Bullock, George LaMonde, Noel, Ray Contreras (producer), Appolonia (Prince protogé), Steve Addabbo (producer of Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega), Andy Marvel (producer), DJ Gomi, DJ Renegade, Jack D. Elliot (3 remixer-producers), Papa Dee (Swedish Reggae star), Indra (French Top 20 Pop), Patti Day (UK Top 20 Pop), Jim "Bonzai" Caruso (producer, remixer). Wrote a song with Cyndi Lauper for one of her movies, what a trip she was! Songs of mine have appeared on TV shows including the major soap operas, Melrose Place, E! Entertainment, World News Tonight, Blossom, MTV, VH1 and more, as well as numerous feature films. I also write and record lots of tunes for the nonprofit organization Songs of Love (songsoflove.org), which provides personalized songs for children and teens with life-threatening illnesses. They've done over 16,000 songs for seriously ill kids. All of you songwriters with home studios, check it out!
