About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

I began my career in the entertainment industry at the age of 17, working as an extra on huge Hollywood movies such as Mission Impossible 2, The Matrix Trilogy and Moulin Rouge. It was Moulin Rouge that changed the course of my career.I began to dabble in styling, cutting my teeth on street press magazines and with shoots using friends. I then headed to my home town of Buenos Aires, with my portfolio being received warmly by various Argentine magazines.Upon my return to Sydney in 2001, I decided to continue my pursuit of beauty by enrolling in a make-up course. I previously worked at Lancôme, Bobbi Brown, Elizabeth Arden and other cosmetic houses which allowed me to explore the make-up industry; I knew that I wanted to work within the entertainment industry. Within six months of commencing the make-up course I started shooting for local street press magazines and assisting on fashion shows.I started having a successful career within make-up, which quickly extended into styling and it wasn't long before I was being booked to style photo shoots only. With my natural flair for styling, and having received a warm reception from the fashion industry, I decided to specialise on being a stylist, rather than make-up artist. I still continue to work with make-up, having some of my work appearing in publications such as &Men, Blue Mode, AXM (UK), Instinct (US) and DNA.My involvement in the fashion field as a stylist began to take off in 2002 and 2003; DNA, Ralph, Remix, Cream and Pulp all became regular clients of mine. I also assisted on fashion shows at both the Melbourne Fashion Festival and Australian Fashion Week.2004 was to be a big year for me; I styled shows at Australian Fashion Week, Melbourne Fashion Week and the Melbourne Fashion Festival (including both the Men’s and Miss Shop shows for Myer). I also worked in the wardrobe department of the musical Leader of the Pack, before being approached for the coveted position of Fashion Editor for Large Magazine. I continued styling celebrities, as well as shooting for fashion magazines, advertising campaigns, parades, video clips and films. In 2005, not being content with such an already busy schedule, I launched my own online publication – FASHION Magazine Australia. I have since travelled to New York, London, Paris and Los Angeles to cover their Fashion Weeks, as well to shoot editorials and monitor burgeoning international fashion trends and contributors. In this time I also incorporated television appearances, and featured as a Guest Stylist / Fashion Expert on shows such as TVSN (Foxtel), Arena Style (Foxtel), Australian Idol (Network Ten) and Inside Idol (Network Ten).Watch this space….fBIf you want you can log onto http://www.fernandobarraza.com for more of my work
