Naughty Can Be Nice

About Me

I'm a contradiction...a jock & frat president who never got the thing about "emotional distance" being cool and writes poetry as much as he reads the sporting news. I love baseball but I also love the bard.
I was a late bloomer I guess. High school sucked for me, and I was small and skinny but then I grew in both stature and confidence. College changed my life in many ways and then the last few years have seen me really start to believe in myself. Maybe life really does begin at 40.

My Interests

I'm interested in anything that creates differences in the way my friends and I view our great adventure.

..

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to sit in a cafe and sip coffee with Lestat, watching the effect of the heat on his face and hands as the warmth spreads thru the ceramic of the cup and the steam tendrils caress his cheeks. He wouldn't drink any of the coffee of course.
I'd also like to meet the man I'm hoping will be the next President of the United States.

..YES WE CAN
..

Music:

Kat Dixon, Adam and the Ants, U2, R.E.M., TMBG, John Mayer, Keith Urban, The Beatles, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Iron Maiden, The Police, Aerosmith...get the idea? Majorly eclectic.
I like what I like and that's it. I don't prejudge too much (everybody does some) and I am always willing to give a listen and see if I like something.

Movies:

Braveheart, Bull Durham, Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, The Princess Bride, Monty Python & The Holy Grail. I like movies that aren't afraid to be epic in scale or pound a message out. My favorite movie of 2005 was "Good Night & Good Luck". I'm a geek about DVD's, I have a pretty large collection. I tend to pick up on directors and get everything they have out there. Kevin Smith and Peter Jackson would be examples, and yes, I did know about Peter before LOTR. Also, some actors seem to have an awesome eye for scripts. John Cusack for example. Actresses that I like tend to be pretty but have some personal style. I don't care much for cookie cutter. Have some guts for a script, don't be afraid to atake a chance and of course I am male, so don't be afraid of nude scenes...just don't be afraid to tell the director it doesn't make sense here either...

Television:

Yeah, ummmm, no. Not really. I use television to watch sports and HBO. I have a limited exposure to the whole "reality show-approaching train wreck-everyday drama" thing. I get interested in them sometimes (Tila Tequila, Miami Ink) but not dedicated to them.
I buy TV shows on DVD. I like science fiction especially but not exclusively. Firefly, Battlestar Galactica. My co-writer just gave me all five seasons of Babylon 5 (thanx, baby!) and I have not finished those. I also like Deadwood, Band of Brothers and Ken Burns.

Books:

.......

I'm hooked on the whole Fantasy Genre and have been ever since John Ronald Ruel and C.S. Lewis invaded my brain in the seventies. I like authors that make me think too, like Greg Bear or Gregory Benford or David Brin. And I like erotica but I think a lot of the talent in the field is still on the edges of success. Anne Rice is great and I have all her Vampire and Mayfair stuff...but Gwen Masters writes a way better sex scene.

Heroes:

I have my people I admire, of course. Christopher Marlowe, John Donne, Will Shakespeare, Dylan Thomas. Dan Fouts, Tony Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman and Wayne Gretzky. Dorothy Parker. Eduard Manet. Auguste Rodin. But the real heroes are the cop who takes the bullet, the fireman who saves the child and the single mom working a part time job while the kids are at school and then another on the computer at home after they fall asleep.
