About Me

My name is Shane Strongman or Suss (pronounced sus), as I am better known by my peers and I am currently a university student at the University of Alberta in the 5 year combined degree program in Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies and Bachelor of Education. I'm currently taking my courses at MCC thru the access program. My main passion in life is RODEO (namely bull riding). I wanna be a teacher one day (maybe I'll be able to teach bull riding or steer riding). I like to travel, play pool, stay in shape (have a bow flex, cheaper than going to a gym in the long run) and ride bulls. I'm a positive and outgoing person who likes going out and having fun doing whatever I do. I actually like to chill on top of the hill and just look at the stars and think, especially after a long weekend of rodeo. I also like to chill around a fire with a beer.Rodeo is in my blood. I am a 3rd generation cowboy on both sides of my family so I was destined to be a rodeo person. My father was a bull rider and my mother a barrell racer. At 9 months I was adopted by a loving rodeo family and took on the Baptiste name.At the age of 2 I was already involved in the sport of rodeo in the sheep riding event. At the age of 6 I graduated into the steer riding event. I was very fortunate to have won numerous steer riding titles including 4 championships in one year. I then proceeded to ride bulls at the age of 15 while still competing in the steer riding. Later on that year I qualified to the Indian National Finals Rodeo in 1998 at age 16. To this day I continue to ride bulls in the summer and continue my education in the fall and winter. In 2006 my dream came true when I joined the Professional Bull Riders Canada Tour.I credit my rodeo success to persiverence, dedication, hard work and the cultural beliefs instilled in me from my late grandfather Jonas Cattleman. I am a positive and outgoing person who likes going out and having fun doing whatever I do. I also like to travel, play pool, and staying in shape is important. Check out this ride of mine below.
